Clark slaps Bush* on family values- alchoholism.
Clark said this during FTN.

"I am not running to bash George Bush, a lot of Americans really love him, they love what he represents. A man who has over come adversity in his life. From alcoholism and pulled his marriage back together and moved forward. . ."

2. I wish Clark would say something about his AWOL status
I am glad General Clark is slamming with a smile, I wish he would slam Bushie's AWOL status and say something like, "I believe the reason we have this mess in Iraq is caused directly from a man who clearly does not understand combat, because of his avoiding Vietnam and also his derelict of duties in the Texas Air National Guard. That would be right in the kisser (while smiling)

3. I think he will, with the same nuances...
maybe saying something like: The Air National Guard is an important part of the defense of the United States and those who fulfilled their duty to the Guard and served their full term deserve praise.

5. That would hurt
I think Wes is waiting to play that card until criticism of him gets intense of him enough to blast apart the image of "patriotism".

11. I agree
While I'd like him to break it out now, I think he's holding back on that one. It's not the Ace of Spades, but it's a damn good card anyway.

18. He is waiting/hoping they attack his patriotism 1st...
...THEN he will bring this up.

I have no doubt about it- Clark seems unafraid of Bush/media- I hope other candidates pick up on this...

6. this is the conservative approach
Edited on Sun Nov-23-03 11:57 AM by msanger
Just lay something out like it is the truth, and the other guy either has to spend his time defending himself, or the charge sticks. Just causally mentioning bush's alcholism while "praising" him is brilliant.

So we now have it on the record the bush is an alcholic, which is not a big problem if he has dealt with it. But as Iraq and everything else shows, he hasn't.

I'm not sure I'd like to be friends with Wesley, but I dont' think I'd mine him as commander in chief.

((what i mean by "conservative approach" is this is what the Faux news people do all the time. but without facts to back it up.))

16. Clark has the ability to get away with saying things like this
He's so damned decent looking/acting, that it doesn't sound mean - but it gets out there.

17. Yea, after he kicked his Coke' habit and
being AWOL as a result, and failing in every business he was ever involved in, even when financed by the Bin Ladens.

I guess Dubya really is a "comeback kid". :eyes:

Clark may appear clever, but he also may be shooting himself in the political foot, by not telling it like it is.
