Feinstein to vote FOR medicare measure!!!
Despite the strenuous opposition, California Sen. Dianne Feinstein became the seventh Democrat to announce her intention to vote in favor of the measure. She said she would do so ''not because it's perfect, but because I believe it brings substantial help to people who need that help.''

http://www.boston.com/dailynews/327/wash/Senate_showdown_brewing_over_M:.shtml

This thing is a give-away for pharmacueticals that is going to begin the privatization of Medicare.
I'd like there to be a medicare when I retire... if you would too, then write your Senator!!!
If you don't know who that is, goto http://www.congress.org/congressorg/home/ and punch in your zip. Write your letter and they'll send it.

If you live in California, write Feinstein!!!

Jeffords' Statement on Medicare Prescription Drug Act of 2003

I will be voting in support of the Medicare Drug Conference Report. It is not a perfect bill, but it is a very good bill. More than 40 million seniors and disabled Americans need help now. They cannot afford to wait for a perfect program because perfect may never come. This bill provides the foundation we need.

This legislation is the result of more than six years of bipartisan effort, and it will provide $400 billion over 10 years to reform the Medicare system, the largest expansion since the program was founded nearly 40 years ago.

As a member of the Senate Finance Committee that authored parts of this conference report, I am proud of the work that we did to move this bill forward. Now, we cannot afford to turn back.

This bill lays a historic foundation for a prescription drug benefit for all of our seniors. It will provide $25 billion across the nation to help our rural hospitals, doctors and home health agencies. It is estimated that Vermont providers, including Fletcher Allen Health Care, will gain $80 million through increased reimbursement rates. And, it will offer new treatment options to bring Medicare into the 21st Century.

8. Confused and willing to placate woman
the epitome of the enabler, who has little self esteem, no matter what the play act she has managed to perfect. This woman, although she seems intelligent, is really a piss ass whore, like Snowe and Collins , Maine. She is a pathetic scairdy cat. Get her out--she is doing nothing good for the Democratic party but seems more interested in doing good for herself.

16. Your forgot Dorgan (D?)-ND
I called last night but got his answering machine, and vented on it. I said "listen", ripped up an 8x11 manila envelope I accepted from Friends of Dorgan at my last district party meeting, and explained to the answering machine what it was.

"Let Dorgan have his good friends in the insurance and pharmacutical industry finance his re-election."

I also suggested that, based on the war resolution, energy bill and now this, that he just get around to switching parties, so we could be about the business of finding a real Democrat to replace him.

I'm not putting up with any more "so, do you want to elect a Republican" crap from people, at home, on this board, or anywhere.

On key issues, I look at Dorgan's record and go, how would I notice that I'd elected a Republican?

Conrad I give a lot of room to, as he not only voted against the war resolution but has continued to defend that vote publicly.

I haven't heard about Dorgan. It is hard to keep up with the number of democrats bolting and voting for this bill. The House is four times as large and seems like it will have about the same number of democrats voting for the bill. What is wrong with our senators?

15. Screw them all
They are handing Bush a major campaign issue so that he can once again lay claim to the "compassionate conservative" mantra that is a total lie. Once again he will be able to con at least some Americans that he is what he isn't.

Most of the Democrats don't even know half the stuff that's in the legislation. They should oppose it in principle just because they were shut out of the negotiations to craft the legislation.

I've never liked Feinstein and didn't vote for her in the last election. She is far too conservative for a state like California.

To view my opinion on her, recently reinforced by this decision, you will need to highlight the space between the enclosures below.

Readers should be forewarned that the space contains strong language and emotions.

23. She has been drifting further and further away from her base
I recall listening to her question Judge Janice Rogers Brown, one of the judicial nominees, on a case in California where a guy was illegally searched and arrested for drug possession. This was the only case where Janice Brown had actually shown some fairness and decency and wrote the dissenting opinion freeing the guy. Fienstein was acutally upset with Janice over her decision in this case. This shocked the hell out of me! Even the judicial nominee herself commented on her suprise that Feinstein had a problem with her dissent. There's something up with her.

34. They are still trying it
There will be a cloture vote on Monday to break the filibuster. If it gets 60 votes, as it probably will, then the there will be a final vote and the bill will pass. We need to get 41 senators to stop the bill. Unfortunately, Feinstein and Wyden are two crucial votes we just lost and I don't think the votes are there to stop it but we'll see pretty soon.

which, really, is the key to all social-economic issues
so, she helped to enable it against Democratic Party interests

she's doing whatever to help her husband cash in

e.g. Feinstein's husband lands Army contract
Report: Blum's firm awarded $600 million deal

According to the paper, the award to help with troop mobilization, weapons systems training and anti-terrorism efforts is the latest in a string of defense contracts given to URS Corp., a Bay area engineering firm partially owned by Richard Blum, the spouse of California Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

Blum serves on the company's board of directors and controls about 24 percent of the firm's stock, according to Hoover's Inc. research firm.

A Feinstein spokesman declined to comment on the contract.
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/printer-friendly.asp?ARTICLE_ID=32190

The Carlyle Group holds beneficial ownership in URS 21.74 %
http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/102379/000095014903000399/f87695def14a.htm#007

Blum Capital Partners, L.P. 7,701,544 23.70 %
Richard C. Blum 7,813,413 24.04 %

I'd say the Blum-Feinsteins are in quite tight with Poppy's boys ... but, laughing all the way to the bank ...

36. No kidding
I'm always amazed how shocked people are when they learn how their beloved Democrats are in the pockets of the corporations.

DiFi raised over $11 million on the last election cycle. A good chunks of it came from insurance, medical, and pharmaceutical companies.

29. ugly truth: this will pass because of Democratic support . . .
and that's more than a damned shame . . . it's thoroughly outrageous . . . when Democrats support bad Republican legislation, that's no better than having Republicans representing us . . . I'd say it's time for a major housecleaning in Congress, but the sad fact is that people vote to keep their own representatives in Congress and blame it all on "the other guys" . . . and the whole system is stacked in favor of incumbents, so any hope of wholesale changes in the composition of the House and Senate are pipedreams . . . the more I see and the more I hear, the more I'm convinced that we is fucked, but good . . . and it REALLY pisses me off that there's not a damn thing we can do about it . . .

I disagree with and she still does it. The only thing I can do in the future is not vote for her. I hope there is a viable Democrat to run against her the next time she runs.

Oh yes I did write her and Barbara Boxer that this bill was a slap in the face to senior citizens and of course she paid attention. <sarcasm> I hope one of these days that she'll get stuck with the same options the rest of us have to settle for.
