Mr. President, oil isn't worth dying for
http://www.canoe.ca/Columnists/margolis_nov23.html

President George Bush should heed the wise old New York garment district maxim: "First loss, best loss."

Translated from New Yorkese, this means when you get into a bad deal, bail out fast. The longer you stay in and refuse to face reality, the more you will end up losing.

That, alas, is just what Bush is doing in Iraq. Better he had gone to the garment district for hard advice instead of the regal photo op in London thrown for him by Queen Elizabeth and her dysfunctional family.

1. This might be a good poll question
Do we want to get out now and let the chips fall where they may (which may mean another fundementalist state)? Or do we want to stay in there until things are better for the Iraqi people? It seems to me that I see Liberals castigating President Bush for both choices. I tend towards the second (as the way I phased the question no doubt gave away), but think we need to make amends to the UN and get them in there, rather than continuing to do it on our own.

2. There should be a third option to your poll
Would you be willing to send your son or daughter to Iraq to help the Iraqi's even though there is a very good chance that your son or daughter may come home to you in a box?

3. Here's how they see it in Toronto. Why won't America wake up?
Guys - here is another example of WHAT WE CAN DO - even just a small thing. At the bottom is the author's email address. USE IT! Write to him, and/or the editor, whose email address is listed one line below. From the author himself you are apt to get a response, especially if you indicated you really liked it in the subject line. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT HAPPENS. THEY READ OUR SOS MESSAGES AND UNDERSTAND. IF ENOUGH OF 'EM GET SENT OUT, MORE PEOPLE MIGHT START WAKING UP!!!

By the way 1 (800) 839 - 5276 - for the US CAPITOL. It's a TOLL FREE switchboard number where you can be transfered to any office you request - in the House and/or Senate.

THIS VERY MORNING - call it - (it's FREE, after all) and let our congresscritters know how you feel!!!!!!!

There's plenty to rag the rethugs about, too, and again, IT'S FREE!!!
