Images taken from video of two US soldiers killed in Mosul, Iraq yesterday

In this image taken from video, the body of a US soldier lies on the
ground in Mosul, Iraq (news - web sites) Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003.
According to witnesses, gunmen shot two American soldiers from the
101st Airborne Division as they drove through the city center to another
U.S. garrison, sending their vehicle crashing into a wall. Then,
teenagers dragged their bodies from the vehicle and pummeled them
with concrete blocks. (AP Photo/APTN)

1. the interesting thing here
seems to be the fact that this was done with rocks or whatever not rpg's and other weapons. this fact suggests a general uprising in the population

2. which is frightening
considering the fact that this is not going to get any better, instead - tensions between the two sides are only going to increase. The other interesting thing i noticed of the picture was that the troops did not seem to be in a Humvee, as I believe was reported thru other services.

5. Why weren't these pictures on the front pages of every major paper
in this country?? Because they are too busy plastering Jacko, Kobe, Scott Peterson, etc stories all over their rags.

Damn bush* and his administration all to hell!

10. It's on the NY Post front page
w/ the headline "Bastards". I am wondering if they are referring to the Iraqis or the Bush Administration?

6. When I hear that Halliburton employees are being targeted, I think, 'yes,
that makes sense to me.' Those are the people benefiting from this, and they're the ones making the money off of it, and they're why we're there.

When I see these pictures, I despair. These poor soldiers gain nothing, and have everything to lose, and they're losing it for Halliburton and Bechtel. This makes no sense to me. It is awful and sickening.

9. yep, they know we're there for the oil
and so they will do all they can to prevent us from getting it, oil company folks are prime targets as are pipelines. Soldiers are oil company protectors. They are as good a target for Iraqi rage as anyone I suppose.

Horrified at where Team Bush has led us.

7. Jesus that horrible
The scary thing to me is how desensitized the people in Iraq are to violence and death. I couldn't imagine ever grabbing a dead body and smashing it with bricks, no matter who the enemy.

This is dangerous, a generation of heartless killers means trouble for all of us.

13. How often do you see children
grab dead bodies and beat them with bricks in the US?

This level of indiference is frightening. I'm not saying that the US is ideal paradise land so don't get your panties all in a bunch. What I am saying is that the lack of empathy is horrible, and shows just how bad things are getting over there.

Kids don't become this cold on their own you know. This reflects the anger of Iraqi adults and the effects of war.

14. How often do you see America occupied by a foreign army...
...that kills more of us each day, knocks down houses, randomly arrests entire families, kills people at checkpoints if they don't stop their vehicles quickly enough, and drops huge 2000 bombs where they believe resistance to be the strongest.

If that ever happens, that's when you will see American children reacting just like the Iraqi kids.

Every single Iraqi has lost at least one family member, and/or knows others that have been killed. Is it any wonder that they want to kill our troops? If the situation were reversed, that's exactly how I would feel about an occupier.

But you're correct...the levels of anger and hostility are growing in both Afghanistan and Iraq and will only get worse the longer our troops stay.

15. You know
in 9/11 I know a hell of a lot of people who lost loved ones. I knew a few who died and watched the smoke coming from a gaping hole in the pentagon. Did I feel like killing anyone? No.

I've lived under a dictator in Chile, family members "vanished" to that bastard. Did I feel like killing the soldiers in Chile? No.

It takes more then violence around you to become this cold. You need to have it become a acceptable reality in your world to become this way. It takes schools teaching hate, parents teaching hate, etc etc

But I don't expect silver spoon americans to understand that.

19. We need to see more of this.
One film of an american corpse being dragged through the streets by enraged civilians will do more to bring the living troops home faster than a hundred protests.

Desecration of a body, yes, but it's just an empty shell.
