I just cancelled my AARP membership |
|
Hold time was about 20 minutes and the refund required a call transfer. I was paid up through 2008. I told them I think AARP has become one of those phony fronts for the drug companies.
I use a headset on my cordless phone so the 20 minutes wasn't so bad. I guess they must have a lot of people signing up -- or maybe not.

2. I won't be cancelling my membership. |
|
I carry my car insurance through them and it is cheaper than anyone else. So I don't want to cut off my nose to spite my face.

4. Good for you! Greedy AARP has totally sold out its members. |
|
They are in the drug business themselves. An example of their prices:
A 90 day supply of 10mg Lipitor costs $183. This is an exorbitant price. AARP is in the prescription drug business and also makes money selling supplemental insurance. They have an inherent conflict of interest when it comes to supporting seniors getting lower drug costs!

A text book yesterday, and I came across this, AARP has been found to not represent the political views of its members. The Study cited was Frank and Dobson "Interest Groups: The Problem of Represenataion" Western Political Quarterly 39 (June 1985) Pages 224-237.
