HIGH-LEVEL KERRY STAFFERS OVERHEARD PLOTTING IN IOWA HOTEL BAR: SENATOR TO RIDE MORE MOTORCYCLES, CULTIVATE 'PROTESTER' CREDENTIALS; DEAN CASH 'COMING FROM REPUBLICANS'

**Exclusive**

On the eve of a Tom-Brokaw moderated Democratic Presidential Debate, Senior Kerry advisers recklessly strategized over refreshments at the Hotel Fort Des Moines -- believing they were out of earshot to anyone who would care!

But as the caucus nears even stripped Iowa cornstalks have ears.

MORE

The campaign advisers spoke frankly at the hotel's bar on Sunday night about the state of the White House race and their frustrations of living in the shadow of Howard Dean.

All of Dean's money is coming from Republicans, one member of Kerry's kitchen cabinet told the group. Another adviser asked if that had been researched. No one had an answer.

The staff said Kerry should -- and will -- use a motorcycle for campaigning more often.

6. From Newsweek: Will Dean pack Iowa caucuses with outsiders?
http://www.msnbc.com/news/997145.asp

2004: Welcome to the Hotel Iowa
The Iowa Democratic Party quietly warned the presidential campaigns there recently that officials would be on guard against the possibility that non-Iowans might try to take part in January’s first-in-the-nation caucuses. The warning was prompted by a phone call to the Iowa party in September from a staffer at Howard Dean’s headquarters in Burlington, Vt. Reading the party’s caucus rules, the staffer noticed that participants are allowed to register at the door—and that no evidence of residence in the precinct is needed. “So can you put a hotel down as your residence?” the staffer asked. (He was told “no.”) “In fact, there’s no requirement of proof,” concedes Gordon Fischer, the Iowa party chairman.

ALL OF WHICH seemed an obscure concern until party officials read the news that the Dean campaign was mounting an extraordinary, Internet-based effort to flood the state with volunteers from across the country. The goal: at least 5,000, camped out in local homes and hotels. The aim, Dean organizers say, is a massive get-out-the-vote effort. Dean’s Iowa campaign director, Jeannie Murray, says that when she heard about the call from Burlington, she called Dean headquarters to complain—and to tell organizers to butt out. “You can’t control every call from a kid in Burlington,” she said with a sigh. “We would never think of doing something like importing people to vote,” she said. “That’s fraud.” Reluctant to single out Dean for a warning, party officials issued an “advisory” to all. Caucus participants will have to sign in, says Fischer, and will be warned in writing against making false statements. But since the caucuses are run by the party, not the state, Fischer says that there’s no legal penalty attached. The real deterrent isn’t legal but social. At most caucuses, voters have known each other—and their families—for generations.

9. Why is Fineman implying that a massive GOTV effort
is wrong? I thought that's what well-organized and enthusiastic campaigns DO.

Are they implying the Deansters are going to register to vote themselves? Isn't that a bit of a stretch?

And republicans sending Dean money ? LOL!!!

11. So Dean has a lot of supporters in IA
Are you making an accusation or just the threat of a potential accusation?

13. first Drudge, now Fineman in the same thread
After the Dean campaign's "gay-bashing" stunt, I have no doubt they're capable of doin anything to win.

But anything written by Drudge or Fineman is by definition worthless. Even if it sounds believable, and fits with what you think, it's not to be taken seriously for a second.

Drudge is getting desperate to retain his slipping "creds".

I heard Lieberman staffers say that Edwards gets all of his cash from Canadians. Can I have my own news portal now?

14. I don't believe Drudge unless there's a link involved
The last line is hilarious: "In the spirit of the holiday season the DRUDGE REPORT will not reveal the names of those in attendance"

Yeah drudge, in the spirit of the holiday season, you will at least make an attempt to lie about why you don't name those in attendance. :eyes:

He's so full of sh*t
