2. What are the odds of cloture passing AND the bill failing?
Will any of those voting for cloture vote against the bill when it comes to a vote?

Cloture will most likely pass; but can the Dems still filibuster after a cloture vote?

78. Looks like some of those delays Daschle
was talking about... Daschle made a "point of order" that the bill violates some section of a budget act, and Frist moved to waive that portion, so now they have to debate on whether to waive it or not, and vote on that before they can debate the bill.

80. in violation of the budget act?
2 hours of debate over waiving the act?
then a vote.

but everything is at a standstill,
daschle asking quorum call be rescinded...

making motion concerning the budget, legistlation could grow to 6, 8-9 hundred billion.
misallocation of funds

interesting...listen in

88. Daschle didn't have the cloture votes. This is his only recourse.
He doesn't seem to have any other choice but to try to prolong the debate.

83. The Senate version of the bill is over 1000 pages long!
They just published this tome last week. How can they POSSIBLY be trying to vote on this bill before the holiday???

It's INSANE!

87. It's the same trick that the
Repugs pulled with the Patriot Act. They presented this book of a bill and no one had time to filter through it all and look at what's happening now.

82. Daschle's making some good points
He's objecting to the bill not because it's bad for seniors but because it's just plain dishonest, wasteful, and corrupt.

102. The repugs need 60 votes in order to go over budget.
I don't think they're going to get them. I just have this feeling that the Dems have set the Repugs up. We'll see.
