National Leadership Award - from the Repubs LOL

Just got off the phone (here at work I might add)with a Republican!
I happened to answer the phone and the lady asked for my husband. My husband used to work here but he doesn't any more.

Anyway, I told her that he wasn't here but that I was his wife and asked if I could help her. This is what she said "Yes, I am with Congressman Tom Delay's office and *Republican something or other*. We wanted to recognize Jerry with a National Leadership award and talk to him about an immediate press release. Could you please have him call me at blah blah blah."

I was completely floored. Where did they get my husband's name? Why did they call him?

Now, I have to say that I am familiar with this tactic. They used to call my dad all the time. When you speak with someone about your "award", it only takes as small donation of x-amount of dollars to get it. To the Republicans of course. My mom and I used to have a lot of fun diverting these people away from my dad because he would usually give them money.

I am still wondering how they picked my husband to be one of their "award recipients".

1. You should have asked her

where she was calling from. If it was from Delay's office, we could have gotten him a jail term for using staff workers for campaign matters.

2. They have done this for years

My dad used to get these all the time from "New Gingrich's" office. My dad is/was a Republican. (We're about to convert him.) My mom and I used to have lots of fun, like I said, diverting the calls and catching the faxes and running them through the shredder.
