Hitler, Bork, Daschle - an intersection?
The American right’s aping of Hitler’s thugs continues. There has been much written (not in the US popular press, though) about Herr OberFuhrer Perle’s recent admissions that the Iraq invasion was a crime. Clearly, it was against international law.
Now, one of the judicial apologists for the American Nazis, Robert Bork, is back. His view: them damn Nuremberg war trials were for the birds! He claims Hitler’s lads were in violation of no international law! The Nuremberg trials after World War II, he tells us, were a mistake, as they “were presented as the proceedings of courts of law.” He claims the trials set in motion the futile and dangerous idea “that law can control the use of force and atrocities inflicted upon individuals or groups.” http://www.commentarymagazine.com/bk.kay.html
This leads one to a number of conclusions:
1. The US Supreme Court could actually be WORSE if this particular thug had been approved for membership.
2. The Daschle-ist enablers of the Democratic Party are even worse than we feared.
The fact that our party leaders are rolling over on Medicare and Energy (the 2 most recent atrocities, certain be to followed by others) will provide the GOP with all the cover they need to legislate America out of existence.
Can you imagine a press that is not screaming about this? No need to do so - merely look at ClearChannel America.
The New Nazis are here, with all their friends. And more and more of these friends claim to be Democrats.

1. I saw Max Baucus on TV with a black eye
It was nasty, it seriously looked like he'd been worked over.

3. One would think they would use techniques that would not leave bruises
At least by now. I mean, this is the 21st century.

2. I don't think Daschle's one of "Them." He was "anthraxed," remember?

Regarding Bork, Perle, Bush, BFEE et al: Oh, yeah. They're crooks. They may not be NAZIs in name, but in deed they're awfully close.

In business, Molly Ivins reminds us that Perle got $2 million for his Trireme Partnerships out of Conrad Black's enterprise. How nice to see discounts, seeing how Perle asked Adnan Khashoggi for $200 million.

Smell something fishy?
It's our corporate ethics, rotting from the top down

AUSTIN, Texas -- I suggest the epitaph for this entire era should be, "The fish rots from the head down." The latest round of corporate scandals -- Hollinger, the growing mutual fund mess and the foreign exchange dealers who ripped off their own companies -- provide an elegant summary of the pattern.

Hollinger International, a media company owned by Lord Conrad Black, reported a relatively measly total profit of $23 million from 1998 to 2002. During the same period, the company paid Black and his close associates over $200 million in salary, management fees and non-compete payments, according to published reports. The company also featured the usual insider dealing -- including a $2.5 million investment in Hollinger board member Richard Perle's company, Trireme. That would be the same Richard Perle who is still on the Pentagon's Defense Advisory Board, despite having had to resign as chairman earlier because of other business conflicts of interest.

So far, every business scandal starting with Enron has displayed the same features -- investors ripped off, pension-holders ripped off, employees often left with nothing and executives walking away with millions. Those at the top of large corporations who screw up completely and create total disasters walk away with millions under golden parachute arrangements. Just for example, Treasury Secretary John Snow, formerly head of CSX railroad company, presided over a 53 percent drop in the company's stock while raising his own pay by 69 percent. He also slashed both health care and life insurance benefits for CSX retirees.

4. There's probably no way to oppose the "Reformation" . .
. . that is currently underway throughout the world, led by us, the world's greatest power.

Humanity breathes in cylces of Reformation and Renaissance. A Reformation cycle in human culture is a power cycle. Values such as strength, war, violence, hatred, intolerance - reign over weaker values of acceptance, inclusiveness, compromise, nurturing and love.

During reformation cycles humanity closes in upon itself. Suffering of the weak and intolerance of those who violate the rigid rules of the warrior-class is not only tolerated but encouraged as necessary for victory. Average Americans, who a few years ago, could not have imagined what they now see as normal, have the lust of reformation in their hearts.

If history is a guide, reformation cycles only end when huge numbers of humans lie dead on the field - and the few survivors, surveying the vast wreckage they have wrought, finally tire of their desire to continue. *See "The Alphabet vs. the Goddess", Dr. Leonard Schlain

Before that happens, I expect many of the poor and weaker members of society, as well as the liberals who champion them (that's us), will be imprisoned and/or will die early violent deaths.

Ironically, pointing this out to those who will suffer the brunt of this pogrom, will do nothing to slow it down or prevent it - because as a reformation movement gathers steam, no-one believes other humans could possibly be so cruel to each other.

We are just like the Jews in Germany in 1938. Our 1939 is next year. Get ready for it.
