Tom Daschle: Shameful BushCo Enabler
Edited on Mon Nov-24-03 03:36 PM by Stevendsmith
Sorry if this is a dupe, but the Buzzflash editorial below echoes my complete disgust with Tom Daschle. Was anyone else's blood boiling while watching this Cheney lap dog defend the BushCo energy bill on Meet the Press yesterday?

We have fascist oil barrons in the White House and THIS is the "leader" of the "opposition party"?

It's almost too much to take. This is the ultimate insult.

Anyway, here's a snippet of the editorial and a link

Daschle....is blinded by his self-interest, the influence of lobbyists, losing "deals" that he strikes with the White House, his perceived need to often vote in support of Republican bills because he is from an Ultra-red state, his desire not to pressure Democratic senators, his need to feel collegial "love" from his Republican colleagues, his ineptness, his timidity and his overall lack of leadership. In fact, when he leads Democrats, it is most often in the wrong direction.

Forget that he is well-spoken and wears a nice suit. He is, perhaps, the worst Democratic Minority "Leader" in modern history. He hands Bush and the Republicans more victories on a platter than they could ever have hoped for. Daschle is the perennial lout who continually grabs defeat from the jaws of victory. He blew an opportunity to cripple Bush and Cheney with investigations into their dirty business, when he was briefly Majority Leader after the Jeffords' defection. In fact, he pretty much let Bush set the agenda even when Daschle controlled the Senate. Daschle's continued tenure is the most serious danger to any chance of success the Democrats might have in 2004 in all the congressional and senate elections and the presidency. Because he has allowed the Bush administration to define the terms of the debate in Congress, without a strong Democratic counterattack or proactive vision.

3. I'm completely disgusted with Daschle
I'd been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he has caved and kowtowed one time too many. He reminds me of my dentist, except my dentist has more fire in his belly. We need a new leader in the Senate. Tom, you had your chance, and you have shown you're not up to the task.

5. It makes me sick
I would rather that Daschle declare himself a republican than for him to keep up the cruel sham of senate minority leader. He makes me sick to my stomach. He has made himself the perfect dupe for the "Presidick".

6. He sounds like a total wuss

Reminds of the chess club geek at school always getting mugged for his lunch money by the other kids.

Daschle's dispassionate, monotone voice is so quiet and meek-sounding. How does someone like that get to be a leader? Daschle isn't a leader. He's a Yes-Man/Republican plant at best.

7. I called his office this morning
to make sure they got an earful from a real Democrat.

Then I called Kennedy's office to thank him for his efforts.
