Just sent back an AARP membership drive card |
|
with a message on the return card that went like this,"you and Bush can go get screwed, just like you are trying to screw the seniors in this country." Now my husband is afraid Ashcrotch will show up at our front door.

Not for THAT one...though with him, you never can tell...:eyes:
If I showed up there--it would be to tell you how PROUD I am of you for telling the AARP's Newt-kissing director where to go!:D

3. I got a mailing from them |
|
I'm going to use their return envelope to send them the following message. "Thanks for betraying the seniors. Your organization is a disgrace."

4. The AARP basically sealed the election |
|
It is going to be VERY difficult to get us over this one. It is almost as bad as the trial lawyers association jumping ship. The Bushites will be able and eager to point to this endorsement for this plan every time a Democratic candidate brings it up. In fact, we'd be better off NOT bringing up this can of worms during next year's debates.
I have a simple question. In light of the fact that this bill in reality, approaches our ideology more than it does theirs what with getting government to give more to seniors, why don't we play it to our advantage by touting something like 'They are finally taking steps to follow OUR idea about providing prescription drugs for seniors'. I think we take the wrong tack in publicly attacking this bill. It makes us look like we finally get our way, then look how we protest. We should make it out that THEY are finally coming on board with US.
By the way, WHO the fuck is running this ship?

I wrote on their renewal card: "NEVER, you traitors, you are supporting a givaway to HMOs. Take me off your mailing list. By the way, I just joined Retired Americans."

7. My Call & E-mail to AARP Terminating Membership |
|
This is to follow up on my call terminating my membership because of AARP's endorsement of the current Medicare bill. I relied on AARP on TRUST in its reputation as honest broker and advocate for senior best interests. In the past week or so I have learned more about AARP than I ever knew before, none of it good: That NOVELLI, who facilitated the infamous Harry & Louise commercials that torpedoed authentic health care reform, got to be president of AARP, that AARP will benefit along with other corporate interests from this bill, that AARP does NOT look out for MY best interests. I will be joining other organizations such as the Alliance for Retired Americans and the Natl Cmte for Preserving SS & Medicare, and will tell ANYBODY WHO LISTENS to stay away from AARP.

8. Why are you all cutting off your noses to spite your faces? |
|
For one, my car insurance and mobile home insurance are a hell of a lot cheaper through AARP. I am not going to cancel my membership and then end up paying higher premiums through another insurance companies.

9. I don't have insurance through them. |
|
It used to be cheaper. Many just belong thinking they had a voice. Now we belong to something else. If you have their insurance, I guess you have to remain a member. Check out the message boards and see.

14. I've Never Benefitted from Membership Except |
|
for the REPUTATION of AARP. I don't even look at the magazines (bland). Members I know have called the insurance phone numbers and gotten nowhere. All we got was "advocacy" and now we know this was worth NOTHING.

15. AARP Insurance is a scam |
|
Anyone who had done comparison shopping for insurance will find that any AARP endorsement for insurance is a scam. I found that I was able to purchase far better insurance from numerous other sources than those endorsed by AARP. I felt that if they were that unscrupulous in their support of insurance companies that are overpricing their policies, I would not continue to be a member.

13. Funny you should mention it. |
|
When I clicked on your thread, I was in the process of doing exactly the same thing: cutting up the "new membership card" that came in the mail today -- getting ready to send it back to AARP with a nasty message, using their prepaid enevelope.
If we're doing this, I wonder how many others are doing the same all over the country.
