48. Reposting: EFFING Tweety!!!!
In the pre-show, effing Tweety committed *several* sins: First, he intro-ed Shrub's speech saying, "He's LOOKING GOOD AS ALWAYS, This time wearing an Eisenhower jacket."

Oh, Kathleeeeeen (MATTHEWS), your husband has something to tell you!

Other sins Tweety committed in less than half an hour: Played the Shrub Iowa commercial that smears Dems. Cackled when GILLEPSIE named KUCINICH in an answer-----sneering, "Name one CONTENDER (not a nobody)!"

Just being Tweety is a crime. Luckily, nobody watches him and his wingnut "friends" don't TRUST him. "For the FIFTY people who watch this show..." (-------Darrell HAMMOND).

3. I thought Clark's answer to Brokaw's question
about the evangelical divide between Ds and Rs was excellent.

Essentially, that the Republicans have no more sole claim to God and faith than they do the flag and patriotism.

and Sharpton permanently scarred his rep with that incident imo. That is why, although he says some good things, I cannot support him for public office. He lied and damaged some mens careers. We are trying to get away from that stuff.

11. Sharpton just TOTALLY BURNED Brokaw.
Edited on Mon Nov-24-03 04:46 PM by AP
He just made Brokaw the issue. He said, you want to debate OJ Simpson trial? You want to debate what happened to Jessica Lynch? Because that's what your talking about when you talk about whether you agree with what people say happened vis what you want to think happened (or something like that). Or you want to talk about the issues.

Brokaw left stuttering trying to explain why he thinks it matters. Said let's let it go. Sharpton jumps in some more, burning Brokaw more. Brokaw says, OK thank you "brother Ralph" (did I hear that???)

20. Dean on NAFTA
says lots of (good) people agreed with it. We need balance between labor investment and capital investment, and treaties which balance labor, trade rights etc.

Kucinich says, you know, Dean, that you can't even get into that discussion within Nafta framework. You need to tell people where you stand. (Becuase it's inconsistent to say you want what you say you want and say you want to stay in NAFTA/WTO).

that they would get rid of tax incentives for Companies that outsourced overseas.

He was saying there is much out there to be developed. We can't just look at the "tech economy" as having already arrived...that there is still much out there to discover...and that is where new jobs will be found...just in the research and development area alone.

40. Edwards get dry questioin on steel tariffs (a question he answered in pre-
vious debate). So Edwards paints a bigger picture: famiies used to save 10-20% of iincome. Now they have negative savings. It's more like that families will go bankrupt before they get divorced.

We have to create wealth for the middle class, the engines of the economy.

Thank you very much for talking about what's important, rather than answering an obvious quesiton which has been asked and answered.

She's a somewhat Deanie (but open to other candidates) and that did not play well with her at all. I've NEVER said that Kerry has lost one of these debates, as I think he usually does quite well.

But the new schtick of interupting Dean (how many times? I counted at least 4 times) is a loser. BIG TIME.

Granted I've only seen the last 15 minutes or so, but what is wrong with this crowd? I'm actually yawning here. By the way, what is up with Brokaw's cheap questions to everyone where he asks all question in the form of quoting someone else? Is it really important if Kerry think Feinstein would vote for a poison pill? Is there a smart moderator who can ask real questions?

Quick CMB, Al Sharpton has said that men are strong, in the light of the women's movement do you think Al thinks women are weak and does this make him a bad canididate? I'm making it up, but this is the level of debate in this one. Brokaw is worse than CNN's what's her name.

As I'm writing this Brokaw prods Gep to call Kennedy a liar.

72. Oooh, Brokaw gives Kerry a question that's basically "Rip on Dean!"

Here we go.

Someone must've told Kerry not to talk about Dean anymore. Heh.

Later.

73. Brokaw wants to know what Kerry thinks of Dean. Kerry ignores him. Good.
Talks about himself.

80. Brokaw not satisfied. REALLY wants to talk about Dean.
Kerry talks about Clinton. Now talking about Bush. Now talking about experience.

Well done.

Now Brokaw moves on to Dean. How's your back?

85. Great response by Kerry
I think Brokaw wanted to put Kerry on the spot. Kerry knows that when he attacks Dean, Dean gets more money. I think Kerry wanted to just "highlight" the difference between him and Dean.
