Scrubbed ad recruiting DRAFT board members on Hawaii military site
Edited on Mon Nov-24-03 05:54 PM by Dems Will Win
They scrubbed the national ad but have local ones. The first Draft Lottery will likely be June 15, 2005. The Defense bill passed today includes $28 million to get the draft ready for activation within 75 days of March 31, 2005. 20-year olds of that year will go first!

The $28 million budget to reactivate is here:

http://www.sss.gov/perfplan_fy2004.html

The Draft Board ad I found is here:

Draft board members needed

The wartime responsibility of the local draft board, comprised of five citizen-volunteers, is to determine whether a draftee receives a deferment, postponement, or exemption based on the individual registrant's circumstances or beliefs. A perspective board member must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, and not an active or retired member of armed forces or reserves component.
The training includes an initial 12-hour course of instruction presented in the mainland followed by a four-hour block of instruction conducted locally each year. All expenses are paid by the Selective Service System. For more information, contact 1st Lt. Jill Trahan, Hawaii Detachment Commander for Selective Service System, at 808-839-1739 or e-mail at JILLJOY@JUNO.COM. (2)

I'll be 36 next month and this still makes me nervous.

4. sign up to be on the draft board...
then deny deferments, etc to those that don't deserve them.

As soon as the rich have to fight their own wars, there won't be any.

5. This thread deserves a closer look and
some thoughtful research. Rumours of an upcoming draft have been abounding for months, if, in fact it is being quietly organized without any fanfare from the media, this has to be rectified. This is the one issue that will stir up enough interest in the American public to keep bush* from stealing the election for a second time in 2004.

6. Bush needs to be asked
directly about this by the Dems. He needs to take a stand before the election. We must insist upon it. There is so much I hate about this man and his policies that I do NOT know where to start.
