Here at Loyola New Orleans, tomorrow I'm flying home to Jersey for the holidays. Today was a debate by the DNC that Clark, by any means, just rocked the casbah. I knew he could, I always knew he could. Why?
In May, I was sitting in an airport terminal, I believe in Atlanta, and it was during the Is-He-or-Isn't-He saga around Clark. Waiting for my flight, noshing on some fine Chick-Fil-A nuggets (the greatest and best food in the history of the world, as it is), I had no idea who Clark was. Just that he might run for president. Nothing major really happened, just "I'm not going to announce that at present" stuff. But I do remember sitting in the termina, watching Crossfire, watching Clark talk, and trying to picture him at his inauguration getting sworn in by Rehnquist. And I could see it.
Over time, I've become convinced that Howard Dean is our best hope at winning back the White House. However, when I'm in Louie Armstrong Int'l here in New Orleans, and in Cincinnati, and finally in Newark, I'll be thinking about stuff. I'll probably be in Cincinnati for Crossfire, and most airports have CNN Airport News in them. Watching it tomorrow, they'll probably play clips of the debate today and discuss it. What a difference then and now is. How wonderfully strange...
Later.
