"doing away with overtime is evil" |
|
more words from my "bush in 2000" dad.
"its the beginning of the end," "republican conspiracy," "bush and company."
i love it!!!!!
he will be voting for kernan when he runs for full office. and hes supporting kucinich in the primaries.
i <3 my dad.
also, i really think that the democrats can really gain from this issue. anyone who works hourly knows how important it is. (ts the only way I stay in the black each month.) the fact that the republicans would even think of getting rid of overtime is absolutely absurd.

argued that "everyone knows that by doing away with overtime you'll create more jobs" ...
how absurd is that? first of all, overtime was not done away with ... just overtime pay ...
and doing away with overtime pay will cost jobs ... an employer now has a greater incentive to make existing workers work overtime rather than hiring additional workers ... if a worker is already covered for certain benefits, for example health insurance, the premium does not go up if a worker puts in extra hours ... but, hire an additional worker to work those hours instead of using existing staff, and up go the premiums ...
without having to pay time and a half for those overtime hours, more overtime will be required and fewer people will be hired ...

4. I heard a caller on C-span this morning |
|
he made the argument that "Everybody knows when people work overtime, they're taking away someone else's job. Democrats say they are for jobs, but they want to keep overtime."
Really. He said that. Be happy that your father is not as far gone as this moran, who is more than willing to twist reality into bizarre forms in order to carry on in that comfortable fantasy world Rush and company have created. I'm sure there are millions of those guys out there. Every time we get through to someone, it's a small victory. Even if they only decide to sit it out next Nov., it's a victory.

Overtime compensation is a disincentive for business to work people more than 40 hours a week. That was the whole point in creating it.

my dad also said that getting rid of overtime pay might as well mean bringing back slavery.
