How is it possible that the Democratic candidates can look worse than Bush
What are they doing that makes them look so bad? To listen to all the pundits and pollsters, what else are we to think? Do they not look as presidential? Do they not look as statesmanlike? Do they not look as intelligent? Do they not look as compassionate? What is the magic ingredient that Bush has that the Democrats seem to be lacking? What are the Democrats doing differently from Bush? How is it possible that anyone could look worse than this moron?

1. Media whores
That's what Bush has and the Democrats don't. This a nonsense argument. It is often made and rarely works. Remember the "leader" argument made by Bush in 92. It didn't work. It never does.

Let the whores spin. What else is Peggy Noonhan going to say? That any Democrat would be better than Bush? Not likely.

5. It's the Waffles
Look, America wants a leader that does not hesitate in their convictions, no matter how inane those convictions may be. We "need" the reassurance that a prez has no doubt he is doing the right thing. That's why Biff supporters get so darn beligerant when we question him, because we are shattering their illusion of unflappable confidence.

Bush swaggers like he already won the game. Literally swaggers. He reeks of "I'm going to kick my opponents ass". That makes people want to stand behind him. Kind of like hovering behind the schoolyard bully when you know there is going to be a fight.

Liberals, and especially thoughtful liberals tend to suffer from option awareness overload. They consider everybody's feelings and a wide variety of points of view. That comes across as waffling or uncertainty at best. Looks like lying and backpedaling at worst.

Look at the last two Dems to hold the White House. Clinton swaggered and did not give a shit when people disagreed with him. Carter knew people would disagree with him, but he did not publically waver in his ideals. They had cahones and that's why they won.

Dean swaggers, but he shifts and changes his opinion enough to be percieved as not honest. Clark does not swagger, though he exudes a sense of confidence America finds reassuring. If only he would be more unabashed about his opinions and quit appearing so open minded he would instill more confidence. Kucinich swaggers and flaunts his lovely brilliant convictions, but he is short and single and Biff Co will rip his beautiful dorky ass to pieces if he is nominated. Lieberman would not know a swagger or a conviction if you slapped him on the ass with it. Gephardt has compromised his convictions and probably swaggered last some time in the past century. Interesting enough, Edwards swaggers and has that seductive drawl, but his convictions are soundbytes so the intellectuals are not convinced he's the man. Edwards is doing well in the south where we understand how John Wayne can be elected even if he was gay.

Think about it. America wants a cowboy. Not the boy next door.

Peace,
Teresa

12. This misleader does have convictions
2 OUI's and 1 probable cocaine possession.

To answer your question, I think the degree of destruction to this country's commonwealth sets Bush apart. The damage this idiot has done will take all 9 Democrats working in parallel to fix....in about 10 years.

6. Did you ever see anything more pathetic than Bush in Britain?
Whenever I saw him while he was in Britain, I wanted to cringe....He looked almost catatonic...stiffly strutting around looking like he was in some sort of zombie state. He was a fish out of water....He actually had to talk to people without words written for him and looked completely lost, I thought....If he wasn't so mean, I would have almost felt sorry for him....

7. Exactly how I felt about it
I also was under the impression that one of the whatevertheyrecalleds was whispering instructions to him before the royal dinner.

Oh well, down with royalty. This is one thing I do not hold against Bush.

8. Because you haven't seen them face to face yet.
As soon as we decide on a candidate, he needs to call out Bush for one on one debate.
The crystal ball says that Bush will postpone this as long as he possibly can, and we need to use that time to expose him as the incompetent coward that he is.

I can't wait.

9. They don't look worse.
I was thinking how nice it was to get these issues out there - when the Media often ignores them.

I forgot about them spinning it afterwards - I didn't stay for THAT show.
