It's sad when Lott is more Democratic than many Democrats
Lott opposed the Medicare Elimination Bill while too many DINO's supported it.

Okay Lott is conservative, and he felt the bill was too cumbersome and expensive. But he also has said he would support a bill that alleviates drug costs for the low income.

IMO that is what this should have been about. Honest compromise on this bill should have been about more or less coverage. Period. Liberal Democrats propose X amount, Conservative Republicans propose Y amount, they battle it out and come up with something in between.

Instead, the Republicans rolled the Democrats by coming up with this disgusting hodgepodge that contains a veneer pof political candy over a poison pill of Medicare Decimation.

What were those Democratic wafflers who supported it thinking? (Especially disappointing was Dorgan, who is usually on the liberal side of issues.)

This is why the GOP keeps winning. We are in disarray, and we allow them to mug America and look good in the process.

1. it's the disarray part that catches
my attention.
it's hard to see how dems could really suffer if they played in unison more.
and played as a real opposition party.
it's all so disapointing.
ah well -- that's life. it occurs to me that at some point when there are many more homeless, unemployed, bad infrastructure, worse schools -- that people might get some idea they've been hood winked -- but i doubt it.

2. It's been happening since the 80's
There have been ups and downs, and things were better in some ways in the 90's.

But the underlying decay has been going on for many years, and the con men have been playing a shell game.

And the Democrats still argue over being too "left."

I begin to despair.

"Vote Democrat X for Senate because only 1/5th of the Democratic Senators have voted to undermine medicare, compared to 4/5th of the Republicans?". Yeah, good sell.

4. No No No No No,
let me tell you what really happened yesterday. Trent Lott is a bold faced liar! When Daschle called a point of order yesterday because the Medicare Bill exceeded the 1974 Budget Act, there was an opportunity to kill the Medicare Bill right on the Senate floor. Fiscal conservatives had there chance to fight this bill because it exceeded the budget. The vote to violate the budget required a super-majority vote. The Republicans, including Lott, and the turncoat Dems voted 61 to 39 to violate the budget. Lott is a damn liar! He is going to skate on this because after all how many people watch C-SPAN?
