Bush: "Free countries don't develop WMDs"
Bush: "Free countries don't develop weapons of mass destruction". Just heard the Big Stinky Cheese say that. Wait. Does that mean the United States don't have WMDs? Or England? Or France? Or Israel?

It doesn't mean these nations don't have WMDs.

It means these nations aren't really free.

Get with the program. Why do you hate America?

But I contend we are (at most) only partial UN-free. We still have some freedom left to cling to. And as a result, we are being motivated to fight!

Edited on Tue Nov-25-03 02:44 PM by democratreformed
Before we actually started the war in Iraq, I was arguing with my dad one day. One of his comments was something about the WMDs in Iraq. I asked him what he thought about all of OUR WMDs. He said WE don't have those. Oh Lord, I couldn't believe he actually said this. So, of course, I had to get on the net and show him some facts, especially about the Pine Bluff facility about 100 miles from our house!

There are some people who really believe these things just b/c somone in supposed authority tells them. It is just unbelievable.

Actually, it was biological and chemical weapons that my dad thought we didn't have.

Look at what he's said before. Look who picked him to run for president. Look at what those people want to do. They'll say anything they want. Not enough people know about what PNAC wants to do. Not enough even know who they are. People are too busy just trying to get by in this country to care about something like that. Plus we're American's dammit, and we can do no wrong.

being mentally exhausted by the enormity of it all, he says something so idiotic that it shocks me back to life.

The U K, Germany, France, Israel and the U.S. not only have them, we export them to the highest bidder, democracy or not. I read that Israel is now the 5th largest exporter of weapons. Since we continue to send them billions each year, that alarmed me. Are they fronting for our commerce department.

Wasn't it grandpoppy Bush who said, arm both sides in a war and you will always make money.

That is the right wing God, you know.

I can't name two Democratic countries to go to war with each other. Or two countries with a McDonalds to go to war with each other either.

However free nations do sometimes kick the $hit out of 3rd world countries for oil.

42. that McDonald's pattern was broken back in '99
With the bombing of Yugoslavia.

Thomas Friedman (who developed it as "The Golden Arches Theory of Conflict Prevention") had to backtrack a bit.

There actually have been examples of democratic societies (or at least countries with parliaments or legislatures) taking up arms against each other -- the US invaded Canada, for example, back in 1812.

44. True enough about McDonalds
for the most part - however the theory is correct IMHO.

I would say that since Canada didn't recieve independence until July 1 1867, it was the US attacking England. And from 1760-1820 wasn't England ruled by George III?

50. Here's the transcript: (It's even worse than I thought)
Freedom equals peace, as far as I'm concerned. And when you hear us working for freedom in troubled parts of the world, you've just got to know it will lead to peace. We'll deal with the short-term security needs by staying on the offensive. We'll help our children grow up in a free society by bringing freedom to parts of the world that desperately need freedom. Our soldiers -- as we head into Thanksgiving, we need to give thanks to our soldiers for their sacrifice, for the honor they bring to our country, for the service they render by bringing freedom to troubled parts of the world. You see, we're bringing freedom in the heart of the Middle East.

Free countries don't develop weapons of mass destruction. Free countries don't attack their neighbors. Free countries listen to the hopes and aspirations of the people who live in those countries. America also believes that freedom is not America's gift to the world, freedom is the Almighty's gift to every person who lives in this world. (Applause.)

53. Oh, yeah, I forgot that * has a direct hot line to Gawd Almighty...
Check out *'s euphemisms (not that he would know a euphemism if it hit him in the face):

"working for freedom" -- bombing the living sh** out of basically defenseless countries

"troubled parts of the world" - oil-rich Middle East

"staying on the offensive" - we're stuck, so we're gonna blast our way out

"we need to give thanks to our soldiers for their sacrifice" -- I lied, they died

"we're bringing freedom in the heart of the Middle East" -- we're putting untold billions into the coffers of the profiteers and war contractors
