This just in The Wall Street Journal reports that drug
stocks declined today on investors fears that the new Medicare bill will sneak in price controls. I look on the bright side (through clouds of anger) if anything will result in national health care this abominable bill will. Wait until seniors get a bellyfull!

2. "Sneak in price controls"?
Not with Chimpy McCokespoon in the White House. We wouldn't want to do anything to harm all those "Rangers" now, would we?

3. You forget
The bill says the GOVERNMENT can't put on price controls, HMOs can dictate what price they'll pay and do it all the time!

5. Here's another avenue: Universal health is GOOD for business
From Atrios:

Health Care

I can't find the story anywhere online, but on NPR earlier they noted that a Ford Motor bigwig had come out in favor of the government taking over the responsibility for health insurance, in some form. I expect more big businesses to follow. As Big Media Matt notes, our health care system is just much more expensive than it should be. Some sort of universal payer system will come within the next 10-20 years - the only real question is how much money the insurance/HMO industry can loot before then.

6. He's right.
A single-payer system will control labor costs, as regards medical coverage. I expect that this will be heard more, in the near future.
