Poll question: Is the media conservative, liberal, or moderate?
I had to add the liberal option, but I'm wondering how many DUers see the media as tilting right. (While I'm posting I might as well ask you to check out my blog, I'm "building a fanbase").

2. The media is none. It is sensationalist.
I can't see a bias left or right, just a bias towards stories that will garner them the highest ratings.

in its highest ideal, the media should serve as a fourth estate ... this is a fourth branch of government acting as a check and balance on the other branches ... a great ideal really ... for no democracy can exist without an informed electorate ...

sadly, we've witnessed the ideal get sold, like most other american institutions, to the highest bidder ... perhaps it was naive to expect media moguls to be idealists serving a critical societal function ...

today, news is big business ... and corporatists protect their own ... the media has moved very far to the right ... the only good news here is that they are motivated as much by profits as they are by ideology ... local news is really a tragedy ... car wrecks, fires and homicides ... and the national news is so shallow you can't find the truth without doing a lot of independent research ... and most americans are far too lazy to do that ...

capitalism is the enemy of democracy ... it puts profits before people ... it allows lobbyists to buy votes with campaign money ... and it lines the pockets of media moguls at the expense of an informed citizenry ... the failure to educate the american people is a far greater evil than any political bias could ever be ... what greater friend could those in power ever have than an ill-informed electorate ...
