Help from DUers... How old does this candidate look?
Edited on Wed Nov-26-03 12:08 AM by liberalcapitalist

Hope that pic works. Been having trouble with some people saying I look younger/older in this pic than I really am. Your evaluations will be greatly appreciated.

7. do you think a different haircut would help?
When I meet people in my real life, they think I'm older than I am. I have owned a home for over two years, been on my own for another two years on top of that, own my own business, etc. But the first person I showed this pic said "You look really young, man." I didn't think so. But then everyone here is saying I do...

I'm not sure that having a beard is right for what I'm trying to do. Young guy with beard = radical.

25. My joking side says
lay out in the sun it will give you wrinkles. ;)

I'll take a serious try now.

Let your hair grow out a little, face hair I like but don't know how you'd feel about that.
If it's just for a picture how about your jacket on or if without maybe a blue instead of a white shirt. I say a dark suit darker shirt a little thinner tie but not to thin and no foo foo flower designs.<------I love flowers and wild ties but not for this!

BTW have you ever seen that awful tie of the Incredible Hulk that Senator Stevens from Alaska wears? gag!<-----he says he wears it when he's 'going to battle' :puke:

I'd say dress more like Senator Byrd or Senator Schumer and if you wear glasses put them on.

Change the lighting. A stronger light source on one side of your face will age you.

36. I think
I would let my hair grow longer, and perhaps part it in the middle.
But it really does not matter how young you look, it is more how young you sound.

11. Try growing some facial hair
I'm 24, but without my facial hair I'm sure some people might mistake me for an age as low as 17.

No offense, but for some reason I thought the person in the picture was a young Republican before I read that it was actually you.

21. Early 20s at most.
If I was a bartender, I would card you. Why don't you want to look young? Getting older is overrated.

This is probably just me, but I think a colored shirt or patterned tie might help. The outfit you're wearing reminds me of the Catholic school uniforms at my former high school.

By the way, I like your haircut. I don't think you should change it. :)

I think it's the outfit... Cuz I swear to you, I have NEVER IN MY LIFE been mistaken for being younger than I am. My whole life, people have thought I was older. I don't want to hint my true age, but no one has been very close thus far.

24. 25-27ish?
You have such a baby face. If you're having a problem looking too young in your pictures, try black and white. Your pale skin with pink undertones is very youthful.

Good job on the clean fingernails by the way.

27. THANK YOU
I am 25. People tend to think I'm 28-30 when they meet me. One guy said he thought I looked 18 here.

Thank you very much for your tips. I chose the shirt I was wearing because I wanted to look "all business." However, I think you and another person are right, it looks schoolish. Black and white could be a way to go. Wearing a coat could help too. Growing the hair is a plan.

30. Frankly
your picture does look "young republican" to me. But I don't mean that in a bad way. In fact it could be a good thing. I wouldn't worry too much about looking older than you are. State your case in as clear, concise and compelling a way as possible and things should fall into place. If I had to give any fashion advice it would be loose the crew cut.

31. "young republican"
I was joking when I took offense at that... The Republican part is good, it's the young part that troubles me. And I don't really have a problem with wanting to look older than I am, I simply want to look AS old as I am! The crew cut shall be lost, but I don't know how long that will take. I have the American Reform Party wanting a pic ASAP..

38. That pose doesn't work IMHO.
I'd go for something a bit more forceful, with the hands lowered a bit. The current pose makes you look like you have a headache.

A smile might help :-).
