Struggle over Indonesian schools vs smirky bribes using OUR Money
On his recent whirlwind visit to Jakarta,
US president George Bush met Indonesian
religious leaders and pledged $157 million
over six years to improve the
country's school system.

Many Indonesians reacted to his October offer
not with gratitude, but with suspicion.

Bush's move followed similar US attempts at
introducing change in the educational systems of
a number of Muslim countries, including Pakistan
and Saudi Arabia, since the 9/11 attacks.
