7. Why not, at least we'd get a new minority leader and expose the right...
at the same time. After the latest Dem leadership roll over, who really cares anymore...

2. The hell difference does it make
Hell both of my Senators that are Repugs vote more against Bush than Daschle does.

6. Your picture just reminded me
Let's see who's on the Art Bell show tonight. It's a couple who are predicting earthquakes and other disasters. I like the Bigfoot and UFO shows the best.

3. He won't...
... and we're losing (and I do mean losing) at least four southern senate seats - Miller, Hollings, Edwards, and Graham.

I predict the Republicans pick up at least 5 more seats - might be time to move to Canada, after all.

5. If We Lose Those Seats We Can't Even Filibuster Any More
If the Dems drop below 41 in the Senate they might as well not bother showing up.
We will have been run out the government entirely.

8. Under the worst of circumstances
they wont get 8 or 9 seats next year, but if they pick up 5 or 6 Im sure they could find a few Dems to vote against fillibustering.

The problem with large majorities that the GOP may find out is that they are very hard to control, especially with the lack of leadership they have in the Senate. Frist does not dominate his caucus like Delay does in the House, and if pukes add more to the majority their factions are bound to spring up.

Remember Carter had healthy majorities in both Houses, but couldnt get much of anything done.

11. Carter had tons of Dixiecrat leaners to deal with.
These Republicans are more like bots. They will obey, and the Republicans have a unifying ideological agenda, whereas Carter had a basket of issues. It simply isn't the same. We are heading towards disaster.

12. I think Democrats win two seats too
Illinois and one more -- either Alaska or Oklahoma or Pennsylvania.

I don't see the Republicans winning more than four. Maybe three of the four southern seats and one other ... South Dakota, Wisconsin, California?

I can't see more than a 2-3 vote pick-up for the Republicans. I don't see how the Democrats come out ahead either though.

My guess, Republicans + 2. For what it's worth.

13. Im weary of coming out this soon and saying that
IL is a definite pickup, maybe Im just an eternal pessimist, but it seems like the pukes arent throwing out RW crazies like they did for the gubernatorial race.

I think that if Jack Ryan wasnt cursed with his name he would have an even better prospect of winning than he does now.

9. I think if Thune runs,
Daschle really could lose. If Thune doesn't win, Daschle wins easy.

10. He'll keep it
South Dakota isn't stupid, having the Minority leader gives the state a whole truckload of pork.
