Bill to keep Internet tax-free dies
WASHINGTON -- A proposal to extend a federal ban on
Internet access taxes is dead for the year, as the Senate was
unable to reach an agreement, officials said Tuesday.

Bob Stevenson, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Bill
Frist, R-Tenn., said senators were unable to reach a
compromise to allow an extension of the ban that expired Nov.
1. The Senate is wrapping up business for the year and is
moving toward adjournment.
