Simulated 2000 election: Gore wins 56%-40% if white men are taken out
Oh to have just one election where white men were not allowed to vote (that would include me). Working off of the 2000 exit poll, I found that if white men (who voted 60%-36% for Bush) were excluded from the election, Gore wins in a landslide. Specifically:

Gore 56.2%
Bush 40.1%
Nader 2.57%
Others 1.03%

Interestingly, the Nader vote is almost unchanged, revealing that his candidacy had no unique appeal among non-white voters.

1. Why are you torturing yourself?
However, I must say it is just sad the way white men will pretty much believe anything as long as it makes no sense.

10. I beg your pardon.
With your quip being BOTH sexist and racist at the same time, it's weird that you still yourself a liberal. Very weird; delusional, actually.

11. there is no such thing as sexism or racism against white males
you can't be the ruling elete and the victim of isms at the same time. You might want to stop buying the nutcase right wing spin you have obviously been listening to.

13. Bullshit.
I hear sexist statements made against males all the time. Don't give me that "you control everything, so it's OK to make sweeping generalizations about you" bullshit.

14. are ALL liberal values lost on you....
and since when are working class while soldiers or workers some kind of ruling elite. It's particularly unnerving to be told I bought the "nutcase right wing spin" because I objected to the assertion that I -- as a part of whole class of humans -- will believe anything as long as it isn't true. Excuse, is this Free Republic; I thought I was in DU but I must mistaken.

17. That's total nonsense!!

Racism = bigotry based on race. Sexism = bigotry based on gender. It's no wonder wwe keep losing elections based on this kind of inconsistent & hypocritical thinking.

19. That's ridiculous
You mean to tell me that when I was denied a job at a bar because the owner said he needed to hire a woman, that's not sexism? (Oh, yeah, I'm hardly a member of the "ruling elite.")

21. I was a contractor for a gov't agency...
a while back. In one department with over 50 people, there was not ONE white male. No sexism there, no, not at all.

If this is what your really think then you have no idea what the true definition of racism or sexism is.

5. That's a pretty important demographic....
It is unrealistic to exclude it from the results...

That is a slippery slope you are treading...

Someone may come along and say... "Simulated 2000 election: Bush wins 80%-90% if minorities and women are taken out"

Let some wacky freeper hear that and they'll be protesting for it in their massive three and four freeper protests...

A better thing to think about might be how to get Democratic Candidates to appeal more to white male voters...

6. Rush already did that
Someone may come along and say... "Simulated 2000 election: Bush wins 80%-90% if minorities and women are taken out"

Not to worry, Rush Limbaugh already covered that base, shortly after the election, arguing that Bush should be treated as if he won in a landslide becuase without black voters he won over 55% of the vote.

was feeling masochistic I was over at Freak-repukelick and some women were saying the same thing (I'd concede my voting rights if other women couldn't)...

12. kissing up to the white guy vote?
so exactly what sanity must we give up to do that? Women's rights, sensible gun control laws, civil rights for gay people, fair and equitable tax laws?
A better option would be to educate white male voters to what is really important.

18. am I to infer
from your post that you think all white men are bigoted, anti-gay, mysogynistic, and support laws that tax middle/low income folks to benefit rich people?

Gee...that sounds...bigoted.

25. A book you may want to read...
... America's Forgotten Majority: Why the White Working Class Still Matters, by Ruy Teixeira and some other guy.

It really breaks down the numbers on this problem, and shows what we're up against. By the way, I'm a southern white heterosexual male, and I can tell you that there is some groupthink going on there.

27. That's not the solution
How about we instead focus on getting more Dem and independent voters to the polls, rather than excluding any particular group? (yes, I know you were joking!) But I really would rather us focus on getting our people to vote, darn it!

Repub voters tend to vote in very high rates, while we sit and home, or go to work, take care of the kids, etc. We have got to get our people to turn out as religiously as the right wingers do.

Then, white males like you and my husband and my father and my grandfathers could be on the winning team- rather than being blamed for Shrub!

28. I agree
There is nothing wrong with this country that a totalitarian regime that tramples over its citizens voting rights won't fix.

Lets get right on that.
