I'm always looking at the labels to see where things are made. I was at the U. Virginia bookstore recently to buy a sweatshirt for a relative in Scotland, and It was appalling to see where a lot of the stuff was made. And they're often cleverly disguised with American Flag logos. What a crock!
There was a piece on NPR last night where they asked shoppers at, say, WalMart, if they paid attention to where things are made. I heard a lot of "well I just can't afford to care about it."
Don't people realize how very costly it is to buy this crap?
Just try to find a child's stuffed animal that is made in a country with decent labor laws. Yuck. Toys made by exploited children in Thailand!
