DeLay fights subpoena re: TX redistricting battle
Why why why why doesn't anybody seem to care that this shit goes on almost constantly??? These radical repulsicans regularly flaunt the law, the constitution, and simple good manners. It was pretty obvious to anyone near Austin that DeLay was most certainly there IN PERSON and visciously fighting to ram his "plan" through anyone and anything in his way.

DeLay fighting subpoena
Redistricting suit seeks deposition

AUSTIN -- U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and a second Republican congressman from Texas asked a federal court Tuesday to block Democrats' efforts to question them in a lawsuit challenging the state's new congressional map.

Attorneys for DeLay, R-Sugar Land, and U.S. Rep. Joe Barton, R-Ennis, filed a motion in U.S. district court in Marshall, urging a three-judge federal panel to quash subpoenas for the congressmen's depositions. The panel is to begin a combined trial of several anti-redistricting suits in Austin on Dec. 11.

2. Amazing. Tom DeLay IS re-redistricting.
To think he is anything but a central figure is crap.

Note the party of the members of Congress obeying the law here.

3. nobody that influential to a lawsuit gets to dodge subpoena
shows how the bench has sagged under the weight of republican appointees and republican backed measures to remove judicial powers.

4. We'll find out a lot about these federal judges by their ruling.
If they cave on this, I might as well move.

6. Well, I might have to change districts at the least.
They're taking Lloyd away from me, if this is allowed to stand.

All this government reorganization and redistricting is going to bite them in the ass eventually, but they are so short-sighted they can't see it.

Sigh...

8. Correct.
My little bit of Austin remains in the 10th district, but Lloyd is considering running in the 25th.

9. Lots of people care... LOTS
Hundreds showed up at the re-districting hearings to protest... but the mass MEDIA, for the most part, would prefer we don't hear about it. I've seen articles in the NYT, Chronicle, etc... but TV news won't touch it... gee I wonder why they don't.

:puke:

This WILL bite them in the ass, sooner than they think, I hope.
