Is Mitt Romney a carpetbagger from Utah? |
|
I'm under that impression for some reason.

And he got into a pickle during his election when it was discovered he got so much money from BYU (Brigham Young University), an LDS church owned and run college notorious for it's hostility to Gays and Lesbians. This didn't play well for the Gay vote (not that it hurt him).

Democrats complaining about carpet baggers. Now I have heard everything.
Come on people. For how long have we had to defend Hillary against carpet bagging slurs?

His father was governor of Michigan. He ran for Senate in Massachussetts in 1994 so he has lived there for at least 10 years which kind of eliminates him as a carpetbagger. He did run the 2002 olympics in Salt Lake City but that doesn't mean he resided in Utah.

The Romney family is Mormon. I don't know how we got Romney's in Michigan. Ronna Romney ran for governor a few years back. Mitch Romney was hailed as "local boy done good" in Utah during and after the 2002 Olympics.

6. Not really. He has had a residence in Mass. I believe for |
|
quite awhile, though he did not meet the residency requirements of the MA Constitution when he ran for Governor. I guess our laws only apply to some people.

And he did have residency status in Utah. I remember something about property tax rebates for permanent Utah resident that he got.
