San Francisco--Did Dan White kill Moscone because of Jim Jones connection,

or was it soley because he wanted his job back? It's well know that Mascone and Willie Brown supported Jim Jones and when the mass sucicide took place they both stated they had no share in the blame. I find it odd that Moscone and Milk were killed a few days after the Jones incident, and that people who had close ties to Jim Jones and the People's Temple are still in government office.

Also, since Jim Jones was in South America and had a lot of assault weapons could he have had a connection to the shady side of our government and involved in a CIA operation like Contra?

2. Jim Jones Alert

Actually, I had a great interest in the whole Jones thing. He was a mainstream, respected member of the San Fran community. He was well connected. He sold monkeys door to door to support his fledgling People's Temple.

Speaking of well connected, did you know he used a defunct 30 foot deep well as punishment at his heaven on earth paradise? The well had gone dry and was used to put food trash, etc into. Remember they were win the jungle and there all kinds of large weird bugs and creatures at the bottom. And it smelled bad.

If you were particularly disobedient, you were thrown into the well. Reports were that the person at the bottom of the pit (with broken bones from the fall) would scream for help for a few days, then go silent.

7. Dan White

was an angry young man. He represented a more conservative district in SF and felt marginalized by SF politicos.

He smuggled a gun into City Hall, shot Milk, reloaded, then went down the hall and shot Moscone. He was convicted of manslaughter and received 7 years in a minimum security prison. His light sentence was based on what became known as the Twinkie Defense - temporary insanity due to eating too much junk food. He fathered two more children during conjugal visitations from his wife.

He committed suicide not too long after he was released from prison.

The People's Temple massacre occurred a couple of weeks before the shooting but I have never heard of any connection to the massacre and the shooting.
