Would Kerry be a good SoS? |
|
Let's assume for a second that Dean gets the nomination. I know that is a horror too depressing to consider but humor me. I'd like Clark or Edwards to be the veep. It can't be Kerry because of geography. Do you think John Kerry would be interested in the SoS job? Would he do it well? I think Kerry would be very important to have on Dean's side should he get the nom. On the other hand, would it be a great show of bipartisanship to ask Powell to stay or McCain?
Note: I like Kerry and will happily vote for him if he gets the nom. It's just a thought. Thanks.

2. Did anybody else think he was a bit hard on Dean in the last debate? |
|
I think a little more diplomacy could have been applied in that instance.

4. Kerry needs to stay in the Senate |
|
If he does not get the White House. I think he would be an okay SoS, but Mass. has a repug. Governor, thus if Kerry stepped down, a repug would take his spot. This would make anything a Dean admin wanted to do harder.
As far as McCain or Powell, I don't think either would work. McCain is very right on most international issues, so it would be difficult to get him in line with a Dean admin. With Powell, the whole Iraq thing will make it very hard to justify his staying. If Dean gets the nom and wins, one of the big reasons will be the Iraq disaster. How could they keep a SoS who had a big hand in creating that disaster?

is that it would be a political disaster for Bush if Powell said he'd do it. If Powell honestly believed the shit he sold us there's no conflict.

he would stay in the senate since they have a republican governor, no point in losing that if he can't be president.

7. Kerry would be Top Notch in most any Cabinet job... |
|
... and that's why he would make the best President in a looong time — He's qualified to deal with all matters foreign and domestic. And that includes dealing with the BFEE, an enemy that knows no boundaries of law or decency.

I think Clinton would make a superb SoS. As a former President, he would bring considerable prestige to the office. I think Clinton would accept it, actually.
