Dean is the anti-christ, Clark is PNAC, Kucinich invaded us from Mars. |
|
Jesus Christ DU,
I guess the only thing that draws any attention to threads now is flame and insult. As a former Dean basher, I used to love attacking Dean. But after the last debate, I gained some great repsect for the man thanks to pathetic attacks by Gephardt and Kerry. After that, I made a pledge not to flame another person's candidate for the purpose of bringing him down, to make MY candidate look better(I admit I have done this before.)
We're all in this together, and the only people that win when we attack each other are the Republicans.
How about some civility.

I find value to each candidate - and what they are bringing to the overall debate (and setting the tone for the BIG race against Bush).
Critiques moved to the point of blind vitriol do nothing to advance anything - except bitterness among fellow progressives - who will need to be united to pull together and campaign our tails off on behalf of the eventual nominee...

Don't hold your breath waiting for civility.
These guys and gal are itching to be the one to go against President Stupid. None of them are going down easy, or until after SC.
Just don't read most of the threads.
When the nominee is picked, we will see the tone change here. It will be all about beating BushCo. I am sure of it.

;) Glad to see you're coming around. You need to stick to Dean and leave Clark to his own DLC slave masters. You see Dean and Kerry. That's what Clark is going to be like in a few months. I promise:)

Civility? We save that for the Republicans! |

We would much rather tear down the Democrats than the Republicans.

6. And they are all bad dressers and have foot odor! |
|
When you're right you're right. And you are right!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if ADJHS (AntiDean Junior High School) put one tenth the venom into attacking Bush that they do in attacking Dean, we might actually have a running chance to dump His Chimpness out of the high chair next November.
It's really perplexing, where all this hate comes from. I'm not so attached to Dean that I wouldn't support Clark gladly if he became the nominee. ADJHS is as attached to antiDean hate as many freepers are attached to Bush.
Maybe soon they will have a "syndrome" name for this.

10. Follow the example of your candidate. |

I won't bash the other Dem candidates because Clark doesn't. Neither does Dean for that matter.
I mean, so what if they both eat fried kittens right?

OK time for a holier than thou rant,
The primary will be decided by the people at the polls. let the people decide. Unfortunately, the winner won't be decided in a winner-take-all DU debate or straw-poll. Any one of the candidates running for the nomination deserve our respect and gratitude for sticking their necks out and putting it on the line in a vary difficult election.
So what to do The voracious debate is part of the Primary process, part of the beast. One suggestion is a new DU Fight-Club Board, An unregulated, fight to the death for those that want to bash, vent or just post 20-30 replies to one thread. Might even be fun to invite some Freepers to join in. An absolute exercise in free speech.
another suggestion is to go to www.freerepublic.com. this is typical of our adversary. They have no primary, no challengers, a $200 million dollar war chest and judging by the Medicare Bill, control of the Agenda. Let the hate, racism, homophobia, anti-Dixie Chickness, ignorance and confidence in a forthcoming obliteration of the Democratic Party scare you straight. At least save some piss and vinegar for the General Election.
I am in no ways discouraging healthy debate. But, actually I wouldn't be surprised if some of the exceptionally opinionated and inflammatory posts were not Freepers or their moral equivalent in disguise. It is not far-fetched Rovian paranoia folks. The Right's goal is to divide and conquer. It is to have a divided and exhausted Democratic base to fight well oiled and well rested Repug machine. Whatever your Rovian plot of choice, chances are it is being done. they have the resources to to the the horsetrack and bet on every horse just to say they won at the end of the race. so maybe it is to have candidate A elected because they feel he/she will be a McGovern.
Remember people, eyes on the prize.
For the record, while I have posted messages supportive of Clark. I am also supportive of the other candidates and of the process in general. Lets take all the great info we get off DU and go forth into the world and convert and sign up some new members to the Democratic Party. (even some fiscal conservatives who might be squeamish about the deficit, $87 bil Iraq price tag and $400bil Medicare bill). We can divide and conquer too.
