4. 49% of those polled were black…
which reflects the anticipated voting trend.

7. Yeha, but even on other polls where a large number of blacks are polled,
Sharpton doesn't even register.

I don't buy this poll at all.

8. there was only one other SC poll prior to this one…
and that one wasn't weighted for anticipated black turnout.

as such, this poll is likely more accurate than the previous one.

fyi, Sharpton spends most of his time campaigning in SC.

15. there have been over a dozen SC polls at least
maybe this is only the second one you've seen, but they've been polling the state since at least a year ago.

Or are you talking about a specific poll company/source?

20. ARG is the only other poll to have come out of SC…
but I realize they've been doing polling for several months.

sorry… I should've been clearer in my previous post.

11. Only 14% of blacks nationally support Sharpton
In the South the number is higher but the majority of black Southerners are supporting a white candidate.

16. and as of early summer Dean did worst among blacks percentage wise
this was after the media/publicity/ saturation that occured when he won the second quarter fundraising.

Of course, this was before he appealed to neo-Confederates.

22. he didn't appeal to them , he appealed to northern starbucks liberals
who think of southernors as more or less slack-jawed yokels who are all so much less enlightened than they are. Unfortunatly they do make up a signifigant portion of the dem primary electorate.

3. If Clark doesn't win SC, and strongly, he's cooked.
I know they're just getting started in SC, but it looks like they need to work a little harder...

5. I disagree. He's done well in a lot of polls. A good showing in
SC would help, but he does not have to win.

Glad to see Edwards is doing well.

14. He is (or at least was) leading in several states
A few weeks ago polls showed him leading in several Super Tuesday states. He also leads in California--which rewards the primary winner with one-fifth of the votes required to win the nomination.

29. Last time I looked
Georgia, Alabama, California, and Illinois (among those closely following the race). Second place in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, and Wisconsin.

This is fairly fresh, maybe a week old.

24. It looks like the poll was skewed towards young people.
From http://www.greenvillemagazine.com/NOV2003PRESIDENTIALPOLL/MQ-Greenville%20Mazine-Final.pdf

May I speak to the youngest man in the household who is over age 18 and who is at home right now?

27. 78% were over 40; all Dems
This poll first asks if the election were held today who would you vote for?

Undecided 32
Edwards 15
Clark 10
Sharpton 10
Dean 9

Then it asks, if the election were held today and you had to decide right now who would you lean toward?

Undecided 22
Edwards 17
Sharpton 12
Dean 11
Clark 10

Next it asks, if that candidate were not running who would you support?

Undecided 23
Lieberman 14
Dean 12
Edwards 12
Gephardt 10

Hard to know what it all means.

30. Mosley-Braun at 6 %
is what jumps out at me. Has she been that high before?

I like her because I believe she has the best healthcare proposal.

The other thing that jumps out is how wide open the race remains in many of these polls.
