4. I've read them.

My son's heading out on a bus for "special processing" on December 1st. I sent him Kit-Kat bars and mail every day he was in boot camp and MP training. What was it?--seventeen weeks?

Now he's being called in for more, and he's clearly sad and scared. When we talk on the phone he won't hang up for the longest time, as if to cling. I don't mind, but consider it conspicuous communication--like he doesn't want to leave home or father or family--like he's grasping a rope that ties him into all that's familiar, and rejecting (or at least fearing) what his own government is about to do to him. It really breaks my heart.

All best wishes are welcome. He has to leave on the first of December, and I sense he's scared (pardon the expression) "shitless."

My heart goes out to both of you.

Please keep us updated about him. Tell him there are 30,000 people on line who care about him, and who want him safe and HOME. ;-) And some of us will be praying for him too.

I prayed for him when he had to endure boot camp in Missouri, and I prayed for his health yesterday when I stuck a French silk pie in his car. Ha! I should talk about not eating enough.

He has his own place now, and I'm sure he feels alone. If he knows 30,000 people are supporting him he might just walk upright. I'm kidding. I love him, and he's a good son.
