Fox "News" is number one now, but...
In the wake of 9-11 and the American media's complete conversion to ultra-right-wing hate and tabloid journalism, how are the cable networks' ratings overall? Are more people watching, or are the numbers terrible, and that's why they're giving us so much Jacko & Kobe. I've almost totally forsaken TV news. Could it be that overall TV News ratings are way down, and the only people stupid enough to rely on TV for their news are the right-wing nuts who watch Fox?

1. I would venture to say
that part of the reason is that a lot of people like myself have stopped watching cable news.

2. Lets put it this way
even during the first days of the war they did not get the boost
they wanted.

I remember, reading taht they got something like 800 in the Nielsens,
while the BBC, which is in few markets and was not trying got something like 1600 percent.

Oh and if you really want to be bad about it these days I watch ABC nightlie, AFTER watching ITV or BBC, and have found that ABC is breaking away and started to cover real news, FINALLY. They have still quite a bit of room to go, but they are far better than they
used to, but I am afraid I will continue to watch foreign news from now on.

4. Its the smell of blood
The only reason I watch mainstream news is to get a feel for what kind of propaganda the powers that be are trying to push onto the American public.

The Jacko and Kobe stories are shameless. For 45 minutes, I was in a Doctors waiting room watching Jacko’s plane on the tarmac. I am glad I had a good book with me for a distraction. Many other people in the waiting room were glued to the T.V. Several other people were reading after looking at T.V. for a moment and shaking their heads. This could be called, “video rubbernecking”.

One reason so many people may watch Fox news or something along those lines is not for the information. It is to watch somebody be beaten up badly or “infotainment”.

I will continue with this latter.

5. With all the cable news combined FOX, CNN, MsNBC, only about 8.6 million
people watch in a week. I think that Fox got a Nielson rating of like 2.1 or something. So only about 2 million. It is not as high as I thought, but it makes me feel a whole lot better when I worry about all the garbage they spew on a daily basis.
