CANADA should mend U.S.-Canadian relations???
Writing in the Seattle Times - the deranged paper that endorsed George W. Bush - this idiot thinks the strained relations between the United States and Canada are all Canada's fault. Can you spell B-O-Z-O?

4. Well, we aren't Turkey, or Italy, or Israel.....
or other countries with pure records on human rights & freedoms so maybe we don't deserve the U.S's respect. We only buy goods that keep a lot of americans employed and stuff like that. We only fought wars that liberated a lot of countries and stuff like that. We only try to fight for fairness and equality for all and stuff.

5. I knew immediately where this writer was coming from when...
Brian Mulroney's name came up so quickly. Martin will never ask Brian Mulroney to do squat, he is dispised here. He came close to making this country a disaster, totally ruined his own party which is about to be swallowed by a right-wing group of repub-lites. I have little doubt that Martin will make courteous noises but I suspect he will wait until the results of 04 before doing anything concrete one way or the other.

7. Way to go, Seattle Times! Thanks for nothing.
I guess some Americans think that dumping on the French doesn't get quite the desired effect anymore, and are looking at other butts to symbolically kick. Or is this perhaps a way of thumbing the nose at Michael Moore and his obvious admiration for Canada? Or maybe, since Washington is so close to Canada, they want to pick a fight so Canadians won't welcome Americans, especially from Washington, who flee to Canada if (God and heaven forbid) bush steals the election in 2004? Or with new leadership at the fore, is this a "Welcome to Diplomacy, American Style" greeting?

Good ol' Seattle Times, following bush's lead of winning hearts and minds the world over.

8. has that writer ever heard of N-A-F-T-A...
what does he want, the entire Canadian army to be standing on guard at the borders of two national allies and trade partners?

At least that would give shrub a nice excuse to launch another pre-emptive attack! I think the real problem here is that Canada is running surplusses while the U.S. runs record deficits. Canada chooses to spend its money for defense, while we waste endless taxdollars to maintain our world empire. Canada has national healthcare and affordable prescription drugs, while we are ripped off by this industry and Medicare bleeds to death. Canada has beautiful cities with low poverty, the U.S. has decaying cities with exploding poverty and unemployment. The U.S. reconsiders the possibility of a draft because of incompetent leaders, while our young people consider moving to Canada to seek what the U.S. once offered...life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

9. The author of this Orwellian screed...
Is Bogdan Kipling, a first-class arsehole and the senescent ideological father of such Canadian excrescences as Mark Steyn, David Frum, et al. The old bastard sees things through the most grotesquely twisted perspective imaginable--that of an admirer of Brian Mulroney, the classic USA-poodle model of Canadian.

Re Mulroney: On his birthday in 1993, the CBC announced, "And next, all of Brian Mulroney's supporters sing Happy Birthday", followed by ten seconds of dead air! BWAHAHAHAHA!
