"Dubya's Thanksgiving"
Edited on Thu Nov-27-03 12:10 PM by SeanOhio
A Republican associate posted this at another forum I visit. Feel free to tear it to shreds, just like a turkey!

Dubya's Thanksgiving

It would seem that the President has much to be thankful for this year.

A rebounding economy, with economic growth at the highest level in two decades and even revised sharply upward, consumer confidence higher than it has been in three years, a decline in unemployment satistics, and generally better numbers across the board.

A pliant Congress that just deprived the Democrats of one of their primary campaign issues for the upcoming election, a la Bill Clinton and welfare reform, creating a great legislative victory even if denounced by partisan Republicans and Democrats alike. And a Congress that gave him the money he wanted for Iraq.

The juggernaut campaign of the Maple McGovern, who now seems set for sweeping to the nomination and likely creating red-state landslide material.

Three new Republican governorships that will provide invaluable campaigning apparatuses and machinery next year.

And a Massachusetts high court that is set to give him the best wedge issue to reinforce his right-wing base while bringing in key swing moderates, while causing the radical left to foam at the mouth and scare people away, that he could possibly hope for.

And let's not forget the likely troop draw-down in Iraq that will deflate Howard Dean's biggest campaign issue. Like McGovern before him, the clarion call of the anti-war candidate will ring hollow if more soldiers are coming home each week, and as Henry Kissinger proclaimed in 1972, "Peace is at hand." Or seems to be at hand, err, whatever.

Oh yes. Much to be thankful for.
