Schwarzenegger takes Fla. prison firm donation (His word is his bond)
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who boasted during his campaign that he would not be beholden to special interests, has accepted a $53,000 donation from a company operating a private prison in the state slated to be shut down.

The donation last week to the Republican, who has refused contributions from the state prison guards union, came from Florida-based Wackenhut Corrections Corporation, which operates a private prison in the Central Valley scheduled to be closed at the end of the year, a company spokesman said Wednesday.

BTW: Is Wackenhut like Whack-A-Mole?

2. But he didn't lie!
Don't you see, the Prison Gaurd Union is a special interest, and therefore he should reject thier donations.

But the Prison Company is NOT a special interest!

And the Sierra Club is a special interest, and the logging company isn't.

And the ACLU is a special interest, but the Heritage Foundation isn't.

repeat forever.

3. I am so infuriated at DU'ers who used prison guard thing to discredit...
...Davis.

Those guards have interests that are the opposite of the prison management. And their interests are basicially to have state laws rich require that a safe number are on duty at any one time, and that they are required to carry two way radios with panic buttons.

And now look what happend. Smear Davis. Get Arnold. Perhaps a few prision riots and profit-margin padding policies will result in the needless deaths of a few prison guards. Oh, and more tax money will go to building prisons, rather than changing society so that we have fewer criminals.

5. Of course they do
if you can find a jury that can't be bought off; not that I'm cynical about money and celebrity and 'justice', of course! :argh:
