Are we fucked?
Really? What will change once our nominee is selected. The media will rip into them mercilessly. "W" will be shown as hero. $250,000,000 will insure the enemy will define who they are (virtuous), and they will define us (satanic). The media is already giving away for free, a positive bush image. Democratic candidate "X" will hardly be seen or heard but the same old lying talking heads will be given acres of airtime to dehumanize them. People will learn about candidate "X" from ABC, CBS, NBC, Faux, Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Rush, Medved, Savage. Polls will show Bush always leading.

How could an administration be worse in every aspect than this one? Yet they are adored by their base.

How could an administration be more corrupt? Again their base really loves the foul play.

What could be the ace up the sleve?

1. Yes, we are
and it's not pleasureable at all. I've never been so pessimistic in my life-and we have wonderful people running for the nomination which makes it even more intolerable.

2. A retaliation by the Iraqis
over this stunt will be bush's downfall. I don't expect them to take this lightly. It was the stupidest blunder, IMO, yet. We will see.

7. You are right
The occurance of a major disaster / slaughter event in Iraq is the only way we can win. This is awful but I think it is the truth.

3. hate to say it but....
the world turned upside down when they stopped the vote count in Floriday. I am so sorry to keep harping on what seems to make everyone roll their eyes, but I had such a horrid feeling at that moment and I've never lost it. It was right then that I thought "they have finally succeeded into turning the USofA into a shadow of its former self", and I haven't changed my mind yet.

What I'd be curious to know is how much media and advertising over the last 20-30 years has finally eroded any sense of civic duty or deeper understanding of how our country should or did operate. You know, how people "don't have time" to stay informed. Is that a prime example of long-term LIHOP or some variation of it? Sounds conspiracy minded, but hey, merchandising is a science. They know what messages turn "wants" in to "needs", etc.

6. Don't worry bout it
Whatever happens, will simply happen. We keep on keeping on to survive for as long as necessary. Then we die when we die. Then who knows?

9. We'll be fucked, yes..
but so will all the uninformed fellow "citizens" who'll vote for four more years or this fucking madness. We know it now. They won't until it's too late. Go ahead. Swallow the whole load that Chimp and his media whores will shoot your way. You'll get exactly what you deserve.

18. If you guys can't beat Bush
...with all the trouble he's in...you can't beat anybody.

Shut the party down, and go home.

Last one to leave the building, turn out the lights.

17. No, but you might want to edit your post
so it doesn't get locked.

We are only fucked if we let ourselves be. If we work together, get out among the public, and make our voices heard, we can reach more than enough people to offset the likes of Faux. If we sit inside, despairing in front of our computers, we will absolutely lose. I'm not accusing you of this, and we all have a right to despair now and again, but the fight won't end unless we allow it to end. And for better or worse, the fight will continue much beyond 2004.

The rest of us sure as hell don't though - so it's of very little comfort...
