so, my sister asks: "do you want to buy dad TREASON for Xmas?" |
|
now, i can accept that my father is a republican.
but, he's educated and... HOW could he WANT trash like that?
he's in his late 70s. doesn't he understand what happened to his health care last week?
he has 7 grandchildren who will pay for *'s madness (and will be fodder for his endless wars if he holds the WH)
again the question comes up:
are republicans so short-sighted, so GREEDY, so ignorant about what they are doing to their children? grandchildren?
i told my sister NO. he wants to read that trash, he spends his own money. i'll send him a copy of Franken, just to be 'fair and balanced' or Corn, or Krugman or... you get the idea.
my sister said:
well, what about this o'reilly guy, he mentioned that too.
my head, exploded. :nuke:
on the positive side, my brother-in-law's brother, who I have NEVER heard mention anything political was railing against Bush, the medicare scandal, the phoney war, etc.... at the Thanksgiving dinner!
well, I DIDN'T start it. but........... i made a comment or two. he had NO idea of the level of my activism and... well, he's joining the online world next week and I promised to send him links.
one more DUer was revealed today!
nost
hope you had a great holiday!

Why not get your sister to agree to buy your dad The Constitution , Common Sense , The Federalist papers and the anti-Federalist papers .
There are also books on the debates while forming the Union between the founding fathers that are great .

my parents know my politics.
they were SO SMUG about their guy 'winning'
when another idiot repuke relative did her "I'm so glad that immoral man is out of office..." screed.
I NAILED her.
so, peace, prosperity and surpluses are a bad thing and PERPETUAL WAR is a good thing. kiss your grandchildren while you can!
pretty much ENDED that discussion!

2. My Dad was a repub too. |
|
Many a time I would debate with him over why, since he was also a steelworker. I couldnt get it. Now my Dad was born in a different time and I hate to say this but he was semi racist. He had no problem talking with Blacks and getting along fine with them but it was a deep down thing with him. I heard him talk stuff many times and I tried to educate him but it was fruitless. He died a few years ago. Anyway I believe that was the real reason he liked the Repubs.

who wouldn't nornally read any fantasy absolutely love Lord of the Rings. Buy him a nice hardbound set.
as a bonus, he can get a little Tolkien's environmental philosophy without thinking he was being preached to.;-)

10. My 82-year-old Dad sent me Franken's book, "Lies"... |
|
...he voted GOP until 2000 when he voted for Gore.
Dad's pretty pissed. He knows a lot of other WWII vets that aren't very happy either. They see everything that they thought they were fighting against in WWII coming here.

11. How about the George Soros book? |
|
"Bubble of American Supremacy". It's pro-democracy, and anti-Bush, but it comes from a big (and very successful) capitalist, so it can't just be written off as 'leftist whining'. Avalable on Dec 19th, according to Amazon.
