Alliance for Retired Americans - Anyone know about them?
With everything going on with the AARP endorsing the GOP Medicare bill, and the huge number of seniors resigning from AARP, there has been a lot of talk about the Alliance for Retired Americans as an alternative group for seniors to join.

I did a quick check of their website, here http://www.retiredamericans.org and they look ok, but dont really know anything about their history or record.

Does anyone know anything about these folks?

Any info on their past record and/or personal experience with them would be very helpful,

Best!
Kelley

1. We just joined this group.
On the day we cancelled our AARP membership,I called them. They were formed in 2001, affiliated with the AFL-CIO, anyone eligible to join.
I was impressed by their stances. I noticed the Florida Alliance even organized groups for the protest in Miami, but were blocked from going.
Their views seem to be just what we need. We handed out a bunch of forms at our Democratic meeting Tuesday night, and I am calling tomorrow for more.

2. Can you tell me more about that?

From what I know, the AFL-CIO has been good for working Americans.

Do you have any further info of their involvement with this group?

3. AFL-CIO is a sponsor
FAQ

Is the Alliance an arm of organized labor and the Democratic Party?

We’re proud to be allied with the AFL-CIO and other sponsoring organizations. We think the Alliance has much to offer by helping retirees stay connected to their unions and helping to educate all of our members about the issues they care about. We support elected officials, regardless of party affiliation, who support our agenda and the issues we care about.
