O'reilly getting a free pass with Russert on book interview, CNBC now! |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-28-03 01:46 AM by KelleyKramer
I'm working on the computer and cnbc is playing the background, there is Timmy Russert and Bill the Liar doing a book review. I've only seen this show once or twice and am not positive, so maybe a good Du'er can help me out on this ...
Seems I saw the exact same show, and little Timmy had Joe Conason on to talk about his book.
BUT ...
When Joe was on the same show, they had another right wing guy sitting in-between them to counter every single thing that Conason said.
Well, I'm watching O'reilly right now and it looks just like the same set, with the same format about books, but the same desk has only Timmy and O'reilly sitting there.
Why is there no Democrat there to counter everything Oreilly says?
He is getting a free pass.
If this is the same show, then it is nothing but blatant and total right wing media bias!
It was about 3-4 weeks ago when I saw Conason with Timmy and his right wing agitator on the book show, can anyone confirm this was the same show?

1. I think another poster on DU once explained... |
|
their explanation for it is something to the effect that Bill O'Reilly is the "celebrity bigtime", and therefore the sole attraction, while Joe Conason is a "political commentator" and therefore subject to be confronted by an opposing opinion.

8. Oh, but his haircut is so much better .. |
|
so he doesnt have to answer any questions or have any scrutiny.
Yes, its totally ridiculous.
They will do anything, and use any excuse to avoid facing the facts or issues.

10. I don't think the poster believed it at all, he/she was just |
|
explaining that this is the reason the networks use for not having anybody on to cross-examine a guest like O'Reilly. I think we on DU sometimes lose sight of the fact that it's possible to cite someone without necessarily believing in or endorsing that other person's comments.

5. Joe Conason did great, even with 2 on 1 ! |
|
Smokin Joe had two of them coming at him and he kicked both their butts.
So its clear now that O'Reilly is such a liar that they cannot have anyone on there with him, because he is so full of bullsh*t that he would never be able to stand up to even a whim of scrutiny.
What a bunch of double-standard cowards.
Pathetic.

and GE (we bring good wars to life) NBC. NothingButCrap and all its iterations (CNBC, MSNBC) might as well be joined at the hip with FAUX.

9. O'Reilly is like Limbaugh... |
|
You practically have to hold a .45 on him to get him to appear with anyone not contractually obligated to kiss his ass. I would bet good money that O'Reilly refused to appear unless it was a guaranteed solo spot.

O'Dummy lied his ass off to Russert and he never called him on any of them.
It was an interview from one corporate media whore to another.
I saw the interview, O'Dummy told so many lies I lost count.
It is unfair to have a liberal book author on with a republican to counter everything they say, but not do it to a conservative book author. Conason and O'Dummy both did russert to promote books, the fact is Conason had a republican to counter him, yet O'Dummy did not have a liberal to counter him.
That is unfair and biased.
If you have a republican to counter a liberal, then you better have a liberal to counter a republican too. It's called fairness and journalistic ethics. Russert is a total corporate media whore, and the fact that he did not counter O'Dummy with a liberal is proof of his bias.
Not to mention he let O'Dummy lie and spin his ass off for the whole fricking hour.
