Poll question: BLACK FRIDAY POLL |
|
Today is the "official" kick-off for the holiday spending. It's a day where retailers hope holiday spending will put them in the BLACK...
There are various articles/commentaries out there that point to a "better than expected" spending season, and others that say it's not going to be all that rosie...
What's our holiday budget look like?

1. I never shop on Black Friday |
|
I hate the crowds. I shop either before or after.
It reminds me of the joke my Father always told about our favorite seafood restaurant on the Gulf Coast. He always delivered every joke deadpan. "Nobody goes there any more. It's too crowded."

3. My wife has somehow finished almost all of our Xmas shopping... |
|
I don't know how she does it. I still have to finish shopping for her, though.

5. She probably did it all online |
|
That's what I did. Still waiting for the last of the items to arrive.

a couple of years ago and it has been a delight. We now concentrate on just enjoying family and friends. We have decided that these have been the best Christmas times ever and will never go back.

gave each other tickets to see Bette Midler on 12/27 - so that's the BIG present
will probably pick up a couple of little things to open on X-Mas day
My Nieces (ages 8 & 6) will get some sort of toy to share (like a game), couple of books and possibly a sweater each
rest of the family will get a 'special' Christmas ornament each
it's a far cry from what I was spending during the Clinton Boom.

every year. Our family is very large - lots of brother/sisters, uncles/aunts, nieces/nephews so we draw names and buy for one person only*. And there is a limit on how much we can spend. Been doing it for years.
*the sub-family parts do whatever they choose. Like a brother, SIL and their kids are a sub-family part - there the parents typically buy for all their kids, etc.
