Has Anyone ELSE noticed the CHE parallel re: the Hussein Bros.? |
|
Back in 1967 or 68, Che Guevara was killed by a Bolivian death-squad and their CIA masters.
To put down the possible rumors that he was still alive, they put his naked, bullet-ridden body on display on a slab.
The photos were widely reproduced in the Media, and Che became an international martyr for the Revolution.
I don't think that the Hussein boys will enjoy quite that popularity, but the display yestaerday and today has been so DISGUSTING that I can readilty imagine it inflaming passions in Iraq and, more ominuosly, throughout the Arab-Islamic world.
What the whole affair shows, above all, is that our present administration are their Iraqi puppets are little more than brutes...and almost as bad, in their own peculiar way, as the abominable Hussein boys.
I am ashamed, once again, of my country and its "leaders."

And, as one of my uncles was with the DIA and CIA agents that killed Che, I fully appreciate your analogy. Folks, this is awful. Displaying those bodies was an appalling atrocity worthy of...Saddam.

2. Time Mag said Che's farts gave away his position -leading to death |
|
That was back when the media had that left spin they keep telling you about.
So we have seen a set of bones and hair with clay made features that were done so that they looked like the sons.
I think they are dead and these are the bodies, and the photo's are from a sick mind who doesn't know better.
But enough already.
Get a plan.
for Iraq
for the economy
for terror

dem's and Iraqi's alike... "I'll believe it when I see it." So... they can see it. I think this is one of the few understandable things the admin is doing. How else can they prove it? Besides, the Iraqi's have been requesting to drag the bodies around town from a rope on a car..... this is far more respectful then these two guys probably ever deserved.
Remember, just because it was wrong to attack Iraq doesn't mean that the former leaders of Iraq were right or good. That's a whole separate issue entirely.
There are plenty of other issues to question. I don't think this one deserves our noise.

4. Everyone?? I don't care - |
|
seeing pics of the dead Hussein boys means nothing to me (as a dem and an American); I find it quite repulsive. Sure, the Iraqis wanted them dead because they were really bad men - but did they want us to do it for them? What our moronic leaders have failed to realize is this will not suddenly cause Iraqis to like us and want us there.

7. Ah... but the seeing dead bodies |
|
means nothing to me too. I don't think it's incredibly disrepectful (as long as their you-know-whats are covered). Of course it would be better to allow Iraqis to check out the body.... but it seems like the whole country is chaotic over there.... at least if I listen to those who speak over here. Not that Iraqi's or anyone in the world have reason to trust the * Admin, but whether we like or hate them we must admit that they would have to trust whomever they give the bodies to. So it seems to me that they are in a bind.
Like I said before... we don't trust Bush for a reason.... but this is not why. This is small potatos in comparison to what really needs to be scrutinized in the current admin.
Of course, I admit that I don't know a ton about Iraqi culture - but it doesn't seem like these two guys are ones that most Iraqi's care if they are respected in their death. Besides that... the Middle Eastern culture didn't have any problems with other dead soldiers on the TV... I don't think this is much worse.
Regardless, however, my thinking is that this small issue is NOTHING compared to what else there is to talk about... both for us Dems and for the Iraqis.

6. And I think your position is wrong. |
|
<"How else can they prove it?">
Well let's see. They could (and most likely have) conduct (and share)all scientific tests to verify the identities. They could then call a counsel of ALL leading Iraqi scholars, scientists and clerics, and allow them to chose an Iraqi investigation team to conduct their OWN verification processes on the remains. The US could then allow them the autonomy to conduct their OWN evidentiary hearing, after which they could release their findings to their OWN people.
Instead, the Bush madministration conducts a fucking solo dog and pony show and proves to the Iraqi people, as well as the rest of the world, that the * cabal is every bit as despotic and evil as Saddam Hussein.

5. There is a definate parellel. |

It seems that if they could have gotten the Hussein boys alive we could have put a face on the Hussein regime, tried them in international court for war crimes, got them executed, and once and for all justified the war to everyone.
That's what I would have done if i was in Bush's position
