1. I'm sure that those 3 million people who have lost their jobs under Bush..
Are SO darned glad that Bush made that trip. Really, losing your job under Bush's economy just pales in comparison to a PR job in Iraq.

2. Well exactly! I don't understand the intrigue with this trip.
LBJ did the same thing in Viet Nam. So did Nixon. So have many presidents.

It's just no big deal to me. But apparently it's such a big deal to the freepers that they have devoted an entire thread to this forum and its reactions.

3. And as a matter of fact, the more I think of it, the more Chimpy
really reminds me of LBJ!

There must be something in the water down there in Texas...

5. And we should be troubled about that resembalance greatly.
The continuing comparisions to Vietnam are eerie. And we saw what happened there.

I'm not exactly comforted over the idea that we may have LBJ II in the White House right now.

7. I'm not either, but I'm convinced that Chimpy is LBJ reincarnate.
One picks his dog up by the ears, another drops his on the cement...

and calls the Bush Administration, "the Johnson Administration without self-doubt."

Substitute the word "terrorism" for "communism" and you have your contemporary historical tragedy made to order. The filmmaker Robert Greenwald has put together an infuriating string of interviews with former intelligence agents and national security professionals in which it becomes clear that the Bush Administration is the Johnson Administration without the self-doubt. (The film, Uncovered: The Whole Truth About the Iraq War, can be ordered from MoveOn.org.) Administration war planners purposely ignore the intelligence that does not fit their preconceived notions and deliberately mislead the nation--and possibly themselves--about their ability to bomb hostile populations into Jeffersonian democracy. Like McNamara and Johnson, they are destroying two countries at once: theirs and ours. Look for Paul Wolfowitz, twenty years from now, to tell us, tearfully, that he never really thought it was such a hot idea in the first place.

10. I only hope we don't wind up with Viet Nam-like casualties.
There have already been over 75 troop deaths in the month of November alone.

4. Nope. Nothing better to talk about.
The dollar is sliding. That's good for exports and manufacturing, bad for US denominated assets.

It's snowing in Michigan. Maybe an inch by tonight.

1/2 the people are gone from my work today. Just took it off.

I think I will go take a nap now.

6. People dying in Iraq, soldiers being blown up every day,
soldiers shooting kids, Iraqis with no water--there's news happening all right.

We're in another Viet Nam, but the only news we get is a snapshot of Chimpy after he picked up a turkey in the airport in Iraq.

19. I just read their thread about us,
and the one thing we have in common is that we feel the same about each other.

Another point is that they disregard any information that complicates an issue beyond the sound bite. It is religion to them so facts must be disregarded. That could be why they rely so heavily on editorial sources for news (Rush, Newsmax and Fox). If they heard too many facts it would confuse the issues, if whatever information they have comes filtered for them the world can remain a simple place, matching their simple minds.

20. For many freepers, politics and religion are the same thing.
I find that frightening. Couple that with the fact that Chimpy is another LBJ, and I'd say we have a problem on our hands.

(Nothing that we can't get rid of come November 2004 though.)
