1. Well, for goodness sake, go and take a hot shower. Seriously.
I have that horrible, vile nasty feeling every time I go to freeperville. Like I just fell into a big pool of shit.

2. yeah, a real success
really enjoyed watching the ticker-tape parade and the Iraqis throwing flowers. it was like watching the arrival of our Warrior-King in England, where the people emraced him so warmly. We are all so lucky to have him as our President, there is so much to be thankful for this holiday season.

6. You forgot to mention all the children being named "Dubya"
not to mention all the AK-47's being fired into the air in jubilation...uh...that was in the air wasn't it?

3. Yeah, they were also talking about how sad it is that
we think that we think that most of the people agree with us. Totally ignoring the obvious implication of that statement- that they think that most people agree with them. If most of the people in this country are so hateful, tasteless, and just mean spirited then I don't hold out much hope for this country. I have to believe that the good people of DU represent the majority, for my own sanity at least. What do freepers get from their hatred masquerading as "patriotism?" I'll never understand.

9. They get it from
their love of power and lust to be patted on the head someday by one of those who throws them a bone every now and then. They are the ones that think Dirty Harry was a cool guy. They are the ones so insulated in their bullshit little fantasy worlds that they have no need to develop compassion or understanding of others in this world. They are the chosen ones - whether they are in the same shitty boat as everyone else or not.

Many are living on the credit they gleefully used constantly throughout the 90's. In order to keep MY sanity, I have to hope their little borrowed, cozy lives are shaken up with some fiscal reality one day very soon.

7. I believe thats stage three of freeper-itus.
Edited on Fri Nov-28-03 03:33 PM by booley
Just something I have noticed when "debating" freepers' and they begin to lose.

First they ignore everything you say. You can have fifty sources quoting Shrub saying he eats babies and a live video footage, and they will just claim it's the "Liberal media" or simply not acknowledge it all. For the advanced freeper, they wil even go and wait until a point you proved Ages ago in the conversation has been forgotton..and then bring up the original arguement you demolished (sans the part where you demolished it) since most people do not memorize every link, source or arguement they ever used.

secondly, they start in with the name calling, since obviously a "Liberal commie pinko homo whale loving tree hugger" can't be trusted to say anything true anyway. (even it what they are saying is true) Oh, and add Canadian or French tot hat list as well. Oh, and don't forget projection. if they ignore links or don't back up what they say, you can bet they will accuse you of ignoring links and not backing up what you say. (whether you do or not)

And Finally, they start saying how they are winning, especially when they obviously aren't. Becuase it's the rhetoric that's important, not what's actually happening.
personaly I feel this last stage is the terminal one becuase at this point they are more concerned with convincing themselves of what they want to believe then of convincing you...

what's scary is, besides freepers do this (who are at the shallow end of even the conservative gene pool to begin with) But mainstream cons and Shrub are now doing it too.

How does that Far Side cartoon with the cow on the psych's couch go? "What if it's not me? what if it's the HERD that's crazy?"

when the lunatic fringe takes over, are they still the fringe or just lunatics?

11. Free Republic
Edited on Fri Nov-28-03 03:58 PM by jsw_81
I used to be a moderate Republican (as recently as '99) and have posted literally hundreds of times over there. Of course I've also been banned at least fifty times because I dared to disagree with Bush's policies and dared to question the Religious Right. They hate me over there. Come to think of it, a few people here hate me too! I just can't win! ;)

12. I think they hate moderate Republicans even more than they
do Democrats. It reminds them that they basically hijacked a political party. Moderates get axed all the time over there.

13. Yep
They call them "RINO's" (Republican In Name Only). And not only liberal Republicans, but ANYONE who dares to question Bush. You should have seen how they savaged Bob Barr after he spoke out against Ashcroft and the Patriot Act.

14. well, I'm pissed @ moderate
rethugs - they need 2 take their party back. That they have allowed falwell & robertson 2 hijack it, is inexcusable.

It is also inexcusable we allowed the DLC 2 hijack the Democratic Party.

15. can you even imagine what would happen
Edited on Fri Nov-28-03 04:25 PM by bearfartinthewoods
i every DUer who visited the freeps felt the need to post about it?

oh... that's right...we don't need to imagine since sooooo many people do it.

why can't this be a freep free zone? why can't people scrape the shit off their shoes at the DU door instead of tracking it in and stinking the place up?

16. The DLC has produced the only winners that the party has had
1976. And Carter, althought the DLC had not been formed yet, was from the same general group. All the super left has produced has been losers like McGovern.

17. Well...
the subject line does mention that they went over there, so I knew what I was getting when I opened it. I usually don't because I personally can't stand going over there myself and never do and hate hearing about them. Occasionally though I will open a thread where someone else paid them a visit just to see if they are still completely "whacked out" but 98% of the time I just skip em.

20. Basically all
freep sound alike. If you go to any hate radio show you hear what will be echoed later, ver batim, by freepthinkers. Hey freep, who are we echoing? You may notice that our thoughts are from our brains, not manufactured for mass consumption. Try it sometime before yours become useless goo.

A brilliant DU'er has pointed this out before, but I forget who it was. It is a stunningly accurate observation.
