what is the (approx) US population? How much does 11 Billion |
|
cost per person? This is how much the energy bill increased from the time it went into conference... to got out (with pork promises/vote bribes). There were no benefits to consumers for that last 11 billion (or in truth, for much of any of the 30 billion price tag); but we would bear 100% of the cost. Seems that the only benefit is to companies, some congressional delegates whose votes were bought with targeted projects (eg one to help Minnesota ala Coleman), and the president (his fundraising stock goes UP if he can deliver BIG on this - before the election.)
How much per person more are we going to pay to get this bill that harms us passed?

So, about $38.60 per person, although.... no one is likely to pay exactly $38.60.

3. ah... so since the whole bill is just over 30 billion |
|
we each owe approximately $114 ... for the pleasure of getting less regulation/security against market manipulation (done in two ways - take regulatory power away from states to the very business favoring FERC - who couldn't detect market manipulation in California even after it had documentation in front of it; and the repeal of the New Deal era Public Utilities Holding COmpany Act.), for the pleasure of opening more publically owned land to companies for drilling, mining, etc - and done so where WE foot much of the bill (lowering the companies cost of doing business... which of course means those companies getting said contracts will get a competitive edge to other companies as other companies actually have to pay for land rights, transporting the product, etc.), to pay for delaying real investment in renewable energy sources that could lead to future energy independence for the country... etc.
Personally, I can think of more productive ways to spend that money.

5. Do you want to spend the 40 (pass the bill) or get the forty (not spend it |
|
Do you know what is in the bill? There is little in it (almost nothing) that leads to energy independence. Thus it gives the perception that we don't have to still solve the problem... while leaving us very dependent on middle east oil - just like the Bush1 1992 energy bill. Yippee! Let's support US oil dependency on the Middle East! Vote for the energy bill!
