How would the draft apply to an American living abroad?
All the recent talk about the draft has me a little concerned,

I am an American citizen who was born in California, I moved to Canada with my dad as a child. I am pretty sure I am not registered for selective service or whatever it is called. I came of age living in Canada, at the time I wasn’t even aware it existed.

If the draft was re-introduced, would I have problems traveling back to the United States?
I often travel to the US on business, and obviously I have family.

Would I be in danger of arrest or denied entry if I show up at US Immigration as a US citizen of draft age who isn’t registered for the draft? Could I show up at customs and be carted away to boot camp?

I don’t really want to break my ties to America, I could take Canadian citizenship on a whim if I wanted to, I have lived here that long. But, going off to die in some war just so some neo-cons can masturbate to fox news doesn’t exactly appeal to me either. I have begun to feel as though being an American isn’t something to cherish anymore.

If anyone has any answers I would appreciate their input,

8. Yeah
I have already decided I will become a Canadian citizen if Bush is re-elected, but I would rather not do that until I lose all hope.

2. Vote in the elections first
Then decide based on whether we nominate Dean and lose to Bush or nominate Clark and win.

You might conceivably get a fine or prison.

If you are under 26 years old, you could still register. It's your civic responsibility like paying taxes or serving on a jury.

Dude, don't give up on America. Have hope.

7. Thanks,
I am more than 26 years old, so... it looks like I have to give up my life long dream of working for the post office.

6. Register now
Generally If you register late they don't hold it against you, I registered 6 months after I was supposed to and they didn't say peep. But that might have been because things were inactive. If this thing gets rolling you could dace some penalty, but generally they just want people registered. I'd look into Canadian citizenship as well.
