I frankly do not understand how we can condemn this and yet support pro-occupation candidates.

We would see these same pictures... There's really no such thing as a benign occupation. Soldiers will be just as armed, the Iraqi people just as oppressed, the children just as terrified and their resources just as plundered.

8. UN Peacekeepers and a transitional multinational...

security force...rebuilding turned over to Iraqis (exclusively)...control (REAL CONTROL) turned over to a committee of Iraqis with proportional representation.... GO a LONG, LONG way to improving the current situation. These would be the RIGHT things to do.

However, I don't believe that the above would prevent the coming Civil War in Iraq.
