We are up against a monster
How can we compete against this? This is scary.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A20936-2003Nov29?language=printer

Bush's campaign Web site already has signed up 6 million supporters, 10 times the number that Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean has, and the Bush operation is in the middle of an unprecedented drive to register 3 million new Republican voters. The campaign has set county vote targets in some states and has begun training thousands of volunteers who will recruit an army of door-to-door canvassers for the final days of the election next November.

The entire project, which includes complementary efforts by the Republican National Committee (RNC) and state Republican parties, is designed to tip the balance in a dozen-and-a-half states that both sides believe will determine the winner in 2004.

"I've never seen grass roots like this," said a veteran GOP operative in one of the battleground states.

Dean, a former governor of Vermont, has made major strides in organizing a grass roots-based campaign in a bid for his party's nomination. His advisers say it is the largest in the history of presidential politics.

While saying he is not familiar with all the details of Dean's grass-roots and Internet efforts, Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman said, "Our goal is for the largest grass-roots effort ever."

1. Well, the 'pubs only have one candidate...
Wait until we get ours. Right now the Dems are split 9 ways. Once we know who our candidate will be, we'll have more support than Bush, by far. For being merely a Presidential candidate 'hopeful', I'd say Dean is doing pretty damn good! :)

13. Wishful thinking?
I wish it were true as well. But right now that's all it is. Do you really believe that when we have the nominee that we will have more support "by far"? I'd like to agree with you and would love to see it. I also seriously doubt it.

2. Don't let this scare you
1) While this is scary Dean is still fighting the primaries. We are not full force against Bush yet.

2) This is won by electoral votes. Thus, we will have to cede states like Alabama and Miss to Bush. They can get all the voters they want in those states, they don't equate to more electoral votes.

3) We WILL have to win in battleground states. This is a must.

3. Yes, but
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=793984

This is frightening, but as other have pointed out, we don't have our candidate yet. This is a great wake-up call that we have to fight like tigers to win, but we will.

In the meantime, check out this link from earlier. Hip-hopper Jay-Z says he's going to register 4 million voters himself. That trumps BushCo by one million, and it's only one guy. If he does it, he should get some kind of public service medal or something.

5. Duh !!! Anyone besides me think ?
We should be focusing on voter registration, especially in the states with no significient primary to spend the money on???? And especially here in Florida.

State party did a token thing on the college campuses and disappeared again.

14. Yep!!
Further, I'd like to see some kissing and making up BEFORE the primaries are over. Bush, Rove et al are watching this and LOVING IT!!
Not good.

7. P.S.
It also shows the repugs are scared. They realize they're losing it. Chimp went to Iraq yesterday, and all the coverage is iffy. Not the reception he wanted, I'm sure.

20. sure I have
but if you think I'm going to delude myself that the dems are a lead pipe cinch to win it back in 2004, you're wrong.

If you think I'm not going to try and get the rest of us woken up and realizing that the battle is uphill and serious, you're wrong.

The perception I see around here is far from reality and that worries me a lot. I want change and I'm doing what I think I need to do to make it happen.

16. I disagree.
I really don't think they're scared. I also feel the coverage of the visit was anything other than iffy. It was great press, a really brilliant Rovian tactic, and great theater. Sorry, but that's what I believe. I say again that Rove is a sleazeball, but I wish we had someone half as smart on our side. Also, the reception he got was very positive from what I've seen and read, starting with the soldiers he visited. If we want to beat this guy in November we need a reality check. Let's not "misunderestimate" him again.

11. I posted that article earlier. It's supposed to scare you.
But keep in mind that these are only claims made by Chimpy's handlers. They're probably lies.

Remember: It's supposed to scare you. It's the Chimpy fear mongering again.

Can you imagine how badly Chimp & Co. want the kind of enthusiasm and drive that the Dean campaign has? They can only dream about it and take large handouts from their "Pioneers."

the following:

To: Pikamax

If I become a Bush supporter to canvas the neighborhood and some smelly, spotted owl fart sniffing, tree hugging, Castro-loving, luddite Marxist hippy insults the president, the rule book says what about slugging him?

In other words, the guy doesn't want to volunteer because he's afraid people will bad mouth Bush! It's hilarious!

15. Please remember half the country hates Bush
so we must get them registered and to the polls. Bush has a lot of money to pay people to get out and work. We need to work hard to deliver without pay. Actually I wish it were not so long until we have the Dem candidate.

18. Grass roots? They call it grass roots when it is organized by huge corps?
General Electric is one of the biggest "Grass Roots" organizations in the world - they must be, why else would so many people work for them?

They are re-defining the English language to meet their goals.

The article is about how much money Bush is spending, yet they throw around "Grass Roots" like it's not coming from big companies and billionaires, as well as from small people who are being programmed by the huge billion dollar media corporations to send Bush money or be labeled a terrorist heathen.

Big Brother is alive and well in Texas.

No one who voted for Gore is going to vote for Bush. But many who voted for Bush may vote against him in 2004.

Hes a disaster and the more I look around the more I see people are realizing this. Dont worry, he cant win because hes a fraud. And people are waking up to this beast.

28. The World Is United Against Shrub.
We have it made. Shrub has destroyed the republican party through his corruption and his incompetence. The republican party is finished forever. in 2004

Yes, it is true. We are up against a monster. Shrub is just like Hitler. Take a good look. He's a fascist dictator. The whole world will help the Democratic party get rid of him.
