.... they are losing vast numbers of previous supporters in the military. I was talking to a friend of mine in the military who HATED Clinton and voted for Bush. He said the tide is really starting to turn on Bush. I asked him what he thought of Bush's little trip. He laughed, pretty bitterly, and said a lot of the guys had nicknamed Bush "Photo-Op". He told me the PR stunt probably played well with non-military types but a lot of the military saw it as another event in a long line which Bush plays dress up and uses the military for political purposes.
This guy said he would not vote again for Bush. I asked him if he could vote for a Democrat and he sighed and said he could vote for Kerry or Clark since they served. He said a lot of people in the military are saying we need someone who has "walked the walk" since not many people in the military liked Clinton, and not many like Bush now.

3. Top Ten things Bush thanked the troops Baghdad for: |
|
10. Thanks for helping make Iraq safe so I could give my corporate contributors like Halliburton multi-billion dollar no bid contracts.
9. Thanks for getting killed at a rate of two per day due to my failed postwar policy.
8. Thanks for standing in harms way even though me or no one from my administration will attend your funeral when you come home in a body bag.
7. Thanks for letting me slash your disability, medical and retirement benefits so I can give the rich the biggest tax cut in history.
6. Thanks for fighting a war that I repeatedly lied to us in to.
5. Thanks for the propaganda photo -op I need for my campaign commercial since that aircraft carrier thing didn't work out.
4. Thanks for letting me upstage that evil Hillary Clinton in Afghanistan.
3. Thanks for serving your country even if I was a deserter when I was called to do so.
2. Thanks for diverting attention away from the deficit, unemployment and that I haven't even tried to prosecute any of my corporate criminal friends like Ken Lay.
1. Thanks for letting me pretend that I care when I really don't give a damn about you or the average American.

2. This and "2 weekends a month my ass" are great! |

Fighting there in Iraq must be a terribly sad and frightening situation--but all of them will want to protect their buddies, and they care little (and probably know little) about the politics back here at the moment. When they come back, they may have time for it. Letters from home will help in this capacity, however.
